Master and above AI suicidal?

Hey there,

i recently encountered 2 Master (Cobra/ASP) and 1 Elite (Dropship) AI which seemed a little suicidal and broken.

When fighting them, they were just sitting in one spot playing turret. Not caring about their own hull and just flailing away at me and dealing as much damage to me as possible before eventually dying - no dogfighting involved. :S

This behaviour essentially makes combat a dps-race. As high hull-dmg weapons are currently not usable due to the immense ammo cost (pay more for a refill than you can possibly get as bounty) - this kinda breaks combat immo.

PS: I had no bounty on me and no cargo! Also getting some distance from them only made them change their spot to "turret" from.

I can just say that all my AI encounters have been fine, they are actively dog-fighting.
However, they often start by scanning you - stationary. If you move towards them, they will try to back up. Until you overtake them.
And that's when they cannot get out of your way - they want to scan you, so they keep their nose pointed at you.
Sometimes it results in a collisions - most often not as long as you are aware of it.

After the scan they engage.
Other times they engage without scanning.

Already killed plenty of master / elite - cobras, asp, anacondas. No issue detected on my end.

agree.
against bigger ships its mostly just dps.
get a shield cells MC rest lasers. MC are the most cost effective kinetic weapons. fighting the bigger ships can be just like turrets fighting against each others.

It's not the ai, it's the ships. Both the drop ship and asp have turn rates that result in you being very close throughout the fight. Ai doesn't bother to evade so this means you have to change your trajectory using thrusters.

I have 2 x C1 cannon (not multi-cannon) on mine for the kinetic component and they aren't that costly to refill ammo on. They punched a nice hole through an Anaconda's power plant the other day - which was nice :)
