CQC Matchmaking is terrible

So I am a new player. The matchmaking on this is terrible. 2 players rank 48 and 49 end up on the same team, 3 players all ranked 1,2,1 end up on team 2. Yeah no thanks.

Mostly this is a result of low player populations. If there aren't enough people to keep the experts in games separate from the noobs, then they end up together.

Dagnabit, why does everyone burn themselves out grinding to Elite and then drop off the face of the planet? :(

I am not ready to leave, but I am getting pretty tired of seal clubbing. I really look forward to those rare days when the lobby is full of skilled players. Things get really unpredictable and intense, and you can get a good glimpse of what high level CQC could consistently feel like. Those are few and far between though. :|

Check out my video in the good game thread, that is what CQC should be like for the high level players. good stuff.

You think that's bad? Check this out.

I like challenging games but this one was silly :D

Edited to add: There are matchmaking improvements in 2.1 that should prevent these things in the future.

Not as bad as you think.... read through this thread for further explanation. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=250119

Yea, it IS actualy as bad as we think. Just had a second try at CQC. Now, while I didn't do as bad as I feared I would, I kept getting killed instantly by people in between level 40 and 50. Not even time to react, level 40+ in an imperial fighter and I'm gone in 3 seconds. Ofcourse it takes loads of hits from my weapons to get them. It's hopelessly unbalanced.

Ghosty,

It's been said before and I'll say it again.... the level a pilot is at is not a good indicator of how skillful he/she is, but only of how much time they've put in and how many side-grades they have access to. Please not the word, SIDE-GRADES. There's a little something there for every style of play and not one is particularly better than the other IMO. There does seem to be preferred loadouts for the skilled & experienced pilots... but they all DO have weaknesses. It takes time to figure out what they are and how to deal with it.

But, it you simply can't maneuver your ship around well in the first place, well then you are dog meat. Even the starter ship should last longer than 3 seconds, (as you described). When you start taking fire, put pips to shields and either return fire or get the hell out of there! (Slam on the space brakes or boost away and take cover).

Please don't give up so easily, we really need a bigger player base. And to measure the skill of a pilot, look at their kill/death ratio and NOT what level they are at.

Hope this helps.

Yeah Zorkie is level 3 prestige and he is TERRRRRRRRRRIIIBBBBBBBBBBBBBBLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEE :)

I am joking of course, he is pretty decent, experience does that to you.

Uh, last time I checked... I'm still a she. *glances down at my chest, yup they're still there* ((My twin brother sometimes plays in my place though))

Let's be honest, compared to you I AM rather terrible. With this gamepad I just can't keep my aim on you or anyone else for very long. Movement isn't fine enough.

  1. Learn the bonus locations
  2. Try to collect them
  3. Learn the places to hide
  4. Learn pips management
  5. Learn to help your mate in team deathmatch : it is better to focus the "+"target because it will dies sooner
  6. Avoid focusing sidewinder, while other DPS enemy are behind you
  7. Stick together
  8. Avoid playing with the map border or in high altitude : there is no cover
  9. Train train train
  10. Remember that every pilot has started lvl 1

Yesterday I have done some CQC (4 hours), I faced very good opponents (prestige like me), and some very unskilled pilots.

It is easier for us to locate fresh meat : no pips management mean easy kill.

Some pilots with low CQC ranks are very skilled and do the job with manner !! Because they know how to play. On the contrary some high scored pilot are weak.

My ship is tuned to enhance boost capacity. I can perma boost so that I can do incredible maneuvers. My pleasure is to drive along the tunnels to play hide and seen.

Keep in mind that CQC will train you to be a good pilot in the main game too !!

Yea I know those things. It's not about all that. It's about the fact that my ship gets blown up in 3 seconds even when the other guy hasn't gotten a bonus for his weapons. How do I know? Because I've been chasing him for a while. Yes, some low level pilots are every good, which means they'll climb the ranks faster and, if the match making get's a proper update, will no longer be in with the lower levels.

@ Zorkie LaGrue: "the level a pilot is at is not a good indicator of how skillful he/she is, but only of how much time they've put in and how many side-grades they have access to".
Realy? That again? It seems nobody hear has ever heard of "practise makes perfect" because this is being thrown around way too much for this game. If you spend a lot of time at something, eventualy you'll become good at it. This is why we need sepperation by rank.

With silent running, it is hard for anybody to get aim on Dutchy :D

My apologies, I did not know, the only other woman I know that plays CQC is Dana, she is pretty good. I was just ribbing, didn't mean anything mean honestly.

There is a lot of time in between match making sessions. Which is confusing because sales are over 1 million. Surely there is someone to play lol.
