I played for the first time in ages on Saturday, found the same thing, but it was a mix of high levels and low levels. I was somewhere in the middle at rank 25, but the rank is not as important IMO (except for the obvious adv of the unlocks which should have never been part of CQC), its the Kill-Death ratio. There were some players with very VERY high K/D ratios, and frankly playing against them is just no fun at all. Didn't matter what I tried, I was just demolished again and again (and yes I am an okies pilot, and know my pips etc).
Try logging out and getting another match, but found (it seems) there was only one match going this weekend.
Looks like I might leave CQC for another 3 months and see if things improve. Thought Arena might have changed this but populations seem too low still, so it doesn't matter what fancy matchmaking logic they use, if there is only 8 or less players we will all get roped into the same game. Maybe its region locked or based on pings perhaps, and I am just too far away in Australia to get accepted into other games, but who really knows.
The veterans with all these massive kill counts must find it as boring as hell too, not getting a balanced and challenging game with peers of the same skill. At least they get to kill something I guess.
