Engineers Material limit

I would like to be able to dump everything into stations into a general stockpile, and call it over to various engineers as desired.

I have fun gathering stuff! That "ka-click" noise is a good reward noise, like casual games, or gambling or whatever. You got something, that might be useful. Yay.

What's not fun? Scrolling through a list, trying to decide what I can trash, and what I might need later. This is boring, and I don't like throwing things away. Why can't materials be stored, or even crammed into cargo rack pods or something?

We're still gathering everything ourselves, and maybe even wasting MORE time, because we have a bit more incentive to stop at every signal!

That is pretty much how I feel. I really don't care what solution is decided on but I am quite disillusioned with mat gathering at this stage; it is distracting. Having to scroll through that enormous obnoxious list - just to find info on how many of that material has been boxed, is nightmarish.

When we had 300 limit, we had a total of 25 various items we could collect. Then when we picked up one of these we only got 1 item.
Now we have limit of 1500(mats+data), 117 various items, and we get 3X for each item we pick up.

From 300 to now, we have a factor of 4.68 for items(117/25) and 3X for pickups, that's ~14
300 X 14 = 4200

A fair upscaling of mats + data storage would be 4200 , currently it is 1500 :(

I agree that there should be no limits! I am not sure what the big deal is with changing this. It is very frustrating to spend time managing these 2 items as I play the game. If through normal game play I come across 100 of everything I should be able to keep 100 of everything.

Don't get me wrong, the limit bugs me too. I hate hitting it.

However, when asking to increase the limit I have to ask. Why?

...To not hit the limit and be annoyed.

Sure. Ok. But what would you do with the extra space?

...Spam more blueprints

And that adds a considerable more amount of interest and variety, how?

in the end, yes spam more blue prints, but a larger storage or better a unlimited one
would me allow to collect mats without thinking "do i really need this piece of selenium/cadmium/whateverium"
i would simply collect it and at some point, i when i need it, i won't need to hunt it down
because i have it already, because i didn't need it to throw away

so it would probably decrease grind

oh and ammo synthesis would be a bit more useful [big grin]

I'm 100% for removing the limits.
I have dumped "needless" material/data so many times, only to discover, that I need them a short time later.

I don't mind the so called "grind" for the engineers that much, but having to pick up stuff several times is just annoying!

I gotta admit that the limit of 1000 materials is puzzling to me. Yes, I understand that these materials must take up space somewhere on your ship but consider this. It is perfectly possible to start a new cmdr on Horizons and take the sidewinder with SRV option. Fly to the first landable planet you come across and fill your material cache to 1000 just driving round the surface prospecting. This says to me that the amount of storage required for 1000 materials will quite easily fit on an SRV. Surely there should be more space on your ship or are these mats stored in a footlocker under your bunk?

Ok, I can understand that there's a possibility that any data scanned can get immediately transmitted to your ship so data isn't necessarily stored on the SRV, but the materials can't be transmitted to the ship..... or can they? If you blow your SRV up and you end up back on your ship then hey presto, so are all the materials you've just been collecting.

To me there seems to be a little more thought and work put into the whole material storage thing rather than just an increased limit. Maybe have a smaller limit (maybe 100) on your SRV but then you can offload these to your ship, which has a greater capacity. Maybe have a capacity that scales with ship size but that would make switching ships a pain when having to dump mats to get into a smaller ship.

Plus, how can just one of these miniscule particles drastically improve the performance of your ships modules.

You're not thinking it through. That would suggest that you lose all your materials if your ship is destroyed. Wouldn't that be fun?

Sometimes you just gotta let fun overrule reality. That's why it's a game.

There should be NO LIMITS, further more,
we should have the ability to STORE at any Engineer base.
OR
Store at any Base, with the same Transport system used for Modules.
Where at any time we can send various Mats to a Engineer Base.

+1 rep

It is SOOOO frustrating wasting hours of gameplay with gathering mats u umped the other day coz u neede some others with NO storage possebility, No filtering possebility when ur scanning ships - no u just collect all stuff;

Having mat limit of 1000 and data 500 with so much variety each category IS NO FUN!

ITS ANOYING!!

Gave us storage!

or Give us a DECENT Limit so we are not forced to waste the time gaming
