I found a post that said i should check out Volcanic planets because i would have a much higher chance of getting the rare materials. I need Tungsten right now and found a planet that says its volcanism is "silicate Magma". Can someone explain why this is good/bad and if there are other types of volcanic planets?

What people are talking about is a fumarole site. Those have objects that you can shoot for rare materials. A random planet with volcanism won't help, unless you find a fumarole site.

For Tungsten, try the Annaconda wreck at Orrere:

You better figure out how to arrive at some coordinates, because volcanism works the same way.
It is too rare to be reliably finding a new location on your own. You are faster just hunting metallic meteorites or visiting known locations.
Here are Geyser and Fumarole lists. Tungsten is unfortunately not among the recorded elements yet, so you'd have to cross reference the bodies with eddb.
It'll be useful for other very rare elements, but you are probably better off finding the Orrere location for now.
edit: just noticed - Tungsten is not actually a very rare element - volcansim only works best for those (100% drop chance on needle crystals), everything else can be pretty jumbled.
