Materials/Data Storage

An automatic "Discard at Threshold" would do it for me, especially for data.

Setting some data, like Classified Scan Databanks to Threshold=0, would auto-discard all of them. Then having some at 15, would auto-discard new ones when reached 15. And for important ones, keep 'em coming.

For mats it's a bit different, because you choose which to pick up or not. Data however is set at "auto accept" after every scan, which makes them fill up the storage quite quick.

Edit: And actually Ninja'd!

Option 2.

I've asked for this several times. No inventory management, especially when mining. BH sessions in res sites, same as mining only data this time. Auto discard when full is a must if we were to have this option as well.

Ok, come to think about it I have a fourth option.

SCRAP HALF THE MATERIALS!

Admit it, the whole thing is incredibly convoluted. The whole list of materials sounds like something written by a person that locks himself up in his mother's basement and commits suicide because some guy doing a klingon mispronounced the word for excrement on one of the shows.

How is "Irregular Emission Data" different from "Unexpected Emission Data"? Are the irregulars still expected to pop in occasionally or was the unexpected supposed to be on a business trip and came back early?

Even ignoring the really glaring stuff they could've shafted half the mats. Do they really need chemical storage units, chemical processors, chemical distillery and chemical manipulators?

So, I say keep the storage as is but cut back all the fluff and by dear mother of all gods don't add more!

We can store huge ships. But cant empty our pockets or handheld data somewhere? The entire system is flawed idd.
With the introduction of new synths and new materials something has to be done.
I doubt it will be implemented soon..because..well..fdev.

I would like the option of being able to check off what data my computer stores if they arent going to increase the capacity.

500 isnt very much and if you are doing a lot of scanning searching for particular data types you pick up a ton of unwanted stuff.

Would be nice to just have a check box that allows the computer to only keeps the ones I'm looking for and auto discard the ones I'm not.

It's fine as it is.
3 rolls will normally get you a decent mod. 5 if you are a little picky.

Too bad most of the Cmdr's don't run to the next best engineer as soon as their storage get to 80%.
Some activities, like mining bounty hunting or even cartographing fill your storage in a few hours.

Store data and mats off ship. In RL, you don't carry around ALL the money you have at all times (usually? :) ). Perhaps they can be stored at your "bank" and when you need to use them with an engineer, the transaction would be processed directly from your "bank", removing an amount of a specified mat/data equal to the transaction taking place (like ATM transaction). You only have to keep depositing them and this could be done at any station in the galaxy. Leave current ship limits unchanged and when you fill up (or whenever you like) you offload (deposit) at any station and your "bank" records get updated with the new quantity. The Old Words Bank - You can rely on us being there tomorrow :D

Option #4 - being able to buy more storage if they wont do it any other way. Frontier make some money and we get more. Its not pay to win, as we still have to collect everything. Imposing limits on individual materials is just silly, especially for those of us that do 100-200 rolls in one go.

BUT - with the new overhaul of engineers to come, all this may change and extra storage may not be needed.
