Ships Materials gathering in Colonia?

I've recently started playing on my second account on PC (first is PS4, won't get into that...) and a plan is taking shape in my head - I'm going to get the four Colonia engineers opened up and head out there to stay for the foreseeable.

Near / in the Bubble we have HIP 36601 (raw) and Jameson Crash Site (encoded) which are great for harvesting mats for engineering - are there any places similar to these out in Colonia?

I plan to stock up as much as poss before heading out but if I stay out there and do some engineering I will need to replenish - is it more difficult to do so in Colonia?

Yes and no. There aren't any material farms out here, per say, but I also haven't noticed any particular difficulty in getting anything I've needed aside from the usual HGE suspects, just like in the Bubble. Having said that, though, I haven't engineered a ship in a little over a year and a half so my info may be dated.

OK, thanks - good to know.

What and where is available in HIP 36601?

Material collecting is more difficult in Colonia. There is less variety in what is available at HGE sites, so you'll have to trade across categories more to get what you need. There are sources of encoded materials using recon limpets, but it is slow going. There is nothing like the crystal shard sites nearby. Basically, gather the materials you want for your planned engineering projects before you leave. If you run out, it might actually be.more efficient to fly back to the bubble to top up your stocks.

OK, thanks for the heads up. I am currently in HIP 36601 and will fill up with all four high grades available here. I'll also do a Jameson Crash Site run for encoded data before I head out. (Need to get some Guardian module blueprints and mats too...)

There is one of each material trader and only Jacques Station in sells Guardian modules.
Finding some modules can be tricky, but there is usually a fleet carrier selling anything you can't find at a station
What I like about Colonia is the pretty view and short travel distances - makes combat ships in with bad jump range viable.

I've been to Colonia before on my main account and these were def two things I really liked about the place - the number of stars in the sky and its compact nature. The latter makes it an ideal home for my second account I reckon. That and the fact there are only four engineers who cover all the mods - hence me researching into mats collection though.

Another source of materials is Diggidiggi. It is Colonia's version of Robigo Mines passenger missions where biotech conductors, exquisite focus Crystals and modified embedded hardware rewards are available. I can make around 36 million an hour with an Orca here doing these passenger missions. Platinum mining and pirate massacre mission from systems next to Ratraii make credits faster.

Good tip, thanks!
