In game one has to actually go to the engineer, IIRC, in order to see the requirements.
Outside resources which I know to have this capability:
https://inara.cz (which is a great place for many reasons, but also allows one to build crafting lists, showing both requirements and list of missing materials)
Also there is https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/tutorial-for-elite-dangerous-odyssey-materials-helper.608558/ (for on foot suits and weapons) This has been recommended to me but I've never used it...
