Max Jump: What am I doing wrong?

Hi All,

My max jump on a full tank is 21.47LY. On less than a full tank I can theoretically do 22.14.

I am currently trying to do a jump 21.54LY with less than a full tank. The image below shows that I can do 21.96LY but galmap will not let me plot the route.

Any suggestions?

Route plotting will always assume you have a full fuel tank, it doesn't take your current fuel level into account.

Select the system in the gal map (Not plot), then you should be able to jump to it.

.....ninja'ed. What Ravenov said. It may feel weird since you don't have a route line to it but, as long as it is selected, the FSD should engage.
.
Another option is to select it from the Nav panel. Just make sure you pick the right one or you'll have to backtrack (b/c I've NEVER made that mistake)

Thanks Cmdr...you were right. Simply selecting the system (not asking galmap to plot a route) did the trick.

Thanks everybody for your quick responses.

Have you got your cargo slider set incorrectly there?

I don't seem to be able to adjust my slider (or more honestly I don't know how to adjust my slider)

I can't remember your ship build so do you have cargo holds on board?
If so, you can grab the little blue line on the left side of the galmap there and drag it to the right to set a shorter jump range. Moving the blue line tells the computer to simulate you have a loaded cargo hold.

I have noticed that the route plotter won't let me plot jumps that are very, very close to my maximum jump range on a full tank (37.05ly). This was without any cargo sliders set wrong or anything in the cargo hold itself that would reduce my range. However, I could still jump directly to said system, not by plotting the route of 1 jump, but by simply selecting the system on the galaxy map and then jumping to it - it works without a plot for a single jump.

Right window shows exact current jump range and max jump range in parentheses what does this say?

The route plotter won't plot for jumps over your Max jump at full fuel, just select the star, engage fsd and it should jump.

Route plotting will always assume you have a full fuel tank, it doesn't take your current fuel level into account.

You can't use the 'plot route' button to plot over your max jump range with full fuel tank - but if you simply select the system you should be able to jump to it. Is that what you mean?
All this time, I never knew this.
Rep all around.

I learned this the hard way; by taking out an Anaconda with 160 tonnes of fuel tanks. I only filled a fifth of that, and had plenty of spare tank space for Special Occasions, and great jump range. I just couldn't use the route plotter unless I wanted to see the galaxy in hops of 25 light years at a time! :p

No cargo holds so that is probably why I can't use the slider :)

Thanks

Thanks so much...had been stumped near Beagle point as to why I couldn't make jumps well within my range. You are a life saver as it meant I could save my Jumponium boosts to ensure I can get back safely as well. I guess it really is never too late to learn :)
