May have to make my Python into a miner for 2.2

Owned a Python that I made into a miner a couple of careers ago and it is a great ship for it - if not one of the best.

However as a profession pre-2.2 mining was okay but I reverted the Python back to other things and have used an AspX ever since. I like mining as a nice change of pace and, while fun and a money maker, there were certainly other ways to make credits.

Read in another forum that, now with 2.2, mining is a fun and profitable past time again. But it was a mining forum so they are true fans of it as I am I suppose. And they were excited.

Just finished the 5 hour 2.2 download last night. Should I convert my AspX back to a trader and make my Python the ultimate miner again?

Any conflicting opinions about post 2.2 mining?

I'v been mining since 2.2 dropped. Seem painite is easier to find. I got 44 tons in about 30 minutes, then 26 tons in about 20 minutes on my next run in a different system. The only problem is the prices have gone down, I was selling for 75k a ton but after 2.2 the highest I have found was 41k. Eddo is not currently accurate.

It always was pure luck with painite, and I cant see it having changed much.
Id have runs with 50 tonnes. Then Id have a run where Id come back with 0.

75k/tonne of painite can be found in booming high tech systems.

41k is generally about the right price, it increases to 70k+ when the faction is in a boom state.

My python is exclusively a mining ship. Best mining ship there is in my opinion. Maneuvers well enough, plenty of cargo space, and can equip all the necessary mining equipment while still being able to defend itself very well.

Yes. Defenitely best mining ship in the game from my pov. Totally agree.

This is mine and collects ore like a beast. Can escape everything if somebody comes to visit you and kill easily smaller / medium sized ships.

Untargeted collector limpets should not pick up player owned canisters now, which is great for mining. Proper QoL change assuming it works cause I haven't tried mining yet since the update.

Yes. The time it takes to fill a Python is usually as much, or more, as time I have to play.
More like the Asp lately.
Not a big deal but it works out well. And I do have a newly purchased TradaConda.

If credits weren't an issue, any reason to take a python over an anaconda for mining?

Just taken a semi-modded Python for its first mine. Normally I'd use an Asp. Well, it did a great job, but getting to 200T mined was just too much for me...got to 180 and left.

I'm thinking that an Anaconda is not as nimble, too big to weave between the rocks and it's just overkill.

Yep, filling an Asp with decent rocks isn't so much of a chore.

I've mined with a Keelback. I finally got around to selling my old mining Keelback. I also sold my mining AspX, though it was also a very good mining ship, in favor of mining with my Python.

It arms nicely for dealing with those pesky pirates and their sense of entitlement.
It mines beautifully, with a Class 2 mining laser strapped underneath, and does not even deplete the weapons charge with 4 pips to weapons.
It holds plenty of cargo, a large refinery and still has room for Prospector and Collector limpets and a docking computer.

I will enjoy many hours of "Programming Limpet Drone, Prospector Limpet Expired, Collector Limpet Expired, Programming Limpet Drone" in my Python... when I feel like mining.

Haven't you turned that off?

Switching off the constant voice messages improved my mining experience hugely. Now it's just the noises of the ship, the lasers and the limpets.

Hmmm I haven't touched my minethon in some time, maybe all dust it off to go for a few runs. Been wanting to upgrade to a mineconda as well but that's expensive.

Nyune! Good to see another PA on here. I've got my fitting for my minaconda. It's about 400 mil non-discounted to build. It's fully armed as well, (just in case).
