May I add my voice to not liking 2.4 Mission System

Hello All,

Hmm, just let me get this off my chest. Hmm.

Reward seems fine to me.

If I have to take another "get commercial sample", "kill skimmers" or "kill 24 pirates" , think I wll go mad.

Thank you.

The new mission system reminds me of when Sky and BSB started in the UK. Loads more channels, but the average quality of a program on TV went down a lot.

2.4 mission system seems to be the same for the faction I am suporting. 3 days of the above missions and I am sick and tired of the new mission system. Hopefully we will come out of election soon. The new mission system has made me "nearly" not care.

Anyone else finding mission choice limited?

Simon

I quite like the new mission board.

I just wish we had 3 of them.
"Local" missions, within 30~ly
"Long Range" missions, which can be up to 1000ly
And "Colonia" lol. Or "Deep Space".

I do not want to fly to Colonia. Not even for 46,000,000cr. Or in the current situation, 46,000cr. Lol

That is such a logical idea it might just work. Post it in the suggestions subforum pls

How is that the new Mission Board's fault though? Mission Boards have always been this way since 2.1-which itself was still a massive improvement on what came before it.

I'd personally love to see more & better adjectives to describe the missions on the board, better explanatory text for when you're reading the details of a mission, & Inbox Text after you accept a mission......like we currently get with follow on missions.

That would certainly help make the Missions feel less "samey". Hopefully that will be amongst the things they improve in the Q1 Update of Beyond.

You can at least access the mission board. It doesn't even load for me. You're lucky!

I've got a similar issue......only in relation to follow on missions. Spawn rates are appalingly low at my end.

I think, in my very uninformed position, that the system state seems to be too heavily influencing the mission selection.
Whilst it is good the Faction states should have a big effect on Missions, there should ideally be a small selection of all mission types (obviously not all types all at once)

Having been here since gamma, and BGS'd since 1.2 I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you!

There has been more variety in missions in 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 (ok I get hazy in 1.x), even in 2.1 there was more variety at different ranking levels, I iron man mode, from 2.1 onwards. I have used the same mission boards pretty much constantly so can see mission spawn as neutral, friendly and allied, in Boom, expansion, war, civil war and election. There was more variety of mission in 2.1, but less missions.

Well to be fair, the above is just a perception, my perception.
Monday is the first time I have actually failed to playthe game, as I generally could not find anything to do. I abandoned my "kill 24 pirate" missions, even though there was a high conflict zone in system.

Whereas I am seeing a lot of variety in missions (even if the descriptions for them are too similar for my liking)-at least on par with pre-2.4-but my complaint is the almost complete lack of follow on missions being triggered, compared to 2.3. Perhaps our problems are caused by something at *our* ends......rather than a problem server side?

Ah yes the suggestion board... where great ideas go to die.

Not true at all. Its amazing how often I have seen ideas from the Suggestion forum turn up in the game.....almost word for word (2.1 changes to Factions & mission boards being a prime example). Some of the stuff I heard at FX17 also fits that pattern.

I'd like to see more missions with no clear indication of what's going to happen.

"Faction: We've detected a Distress Call in the [X] system. We're currently a little low on available ships right now, so we're needing an able Commander to investigate and render assistance if required.".

That would be a nice open ended mission with various outcomes.

Just a thought.

I don't know - after 2.4, or more specifically, after the patch that fixed Rhea all of a sudden not only passenger missions started paying a LOT less compared to 2.3, but ALL other missions suddenly got somewhat worse as well. Initially after 2.4 came along and we had HUGE mission lists there was plenty to choose from with some good missions of every possible type. Now all I get is literally 4-6 missions total per local faction, half of them are for beginner ranks and pay next to nothing and variety is out the window.

I'm not asking for Rhea to come back, but the current situation is actually significantly worse as compared to 2.3 in my region. Even in systems in boom state where I'm allied with everybody it's hard to find decent missions. And that's the case in all systems and stations and I visited those regularly so I know what to expect.

Not sure I see much difference. Colonia missions never interested me and they are too many spawns for them, but other than that seems fine to me.

Missions have come a long way and actually lot of people enjoy them.

Do they support your way of playing game is separate question.

Not sure you'd need 3 separate boards, just expand the filters on the current board.

Also, the number of long-range missions offered is excessive. I'm in Colonia and constantly get missions back to the Bubble. Long-range missions should be relatively few and far between, but with a fair reward.

I think his point was that if you have the categories, the mission generator would populate each thus ensuring you always have at least one mission in the category of your choosing.
