Was a hardcore fan and collector until the prequels killed my love.
The Last Jedi speaks to me. I am aboard.
Live long and prosper.

Had a chance to talk to my cousins son just recently. He used to be a stern Star Wars fan. Read the books and all. Knows all kinds of side lore. Has a good grasp of narrative and cohesive story telling. He was a boy back then who fired up Lego Star Wars and wouldn't stop babbling about some side lore character until my ear would fall off. Now he is almost an adult.

So we had this family meeting and I casually mentioned that I don't really go to the movies anymore - that "the Force Awakens" was my last visit to a cinema and - oh boy - his Star Wars ranting was epic. Pure and epic. Reminded me of the old days when I played with his father as kids. They are quite alike.

Have you watched the Last Jedi? quote one memorable line from it.

EDIT: Got one, 'We don't destroy what we hate, but save that which we love.'
Gah! Kill it with fire - it's the only way to be sure!

The quality of the film aside, to me it very much had the feel of a deliberate and somewhat convoluted transition from "old" Star Wars to "new" Star Wars.

...

As a standalone film I thought it was alright and parts of it I liked well enough, but as a continuation of the Star Wars epic, I didn't care for it so much.

YMMV
