May we finally have "Air drops" in our SRVs please?

It's annoying to fly around for 3 minutes looking for a good place to land. Why we can't just air drop and get lifted up via supension where there is hardly any leveled landmass? This would help a bunch, also being able to control where my ship can land would be great as well.

Oh God yes, some of these planets have crap terrain and are unlandable or worse you land, and your stuck because the ship cant find a valid landing zone so you drive for half an hour in a direction until you find a parking space to reboard your ship

There is no reason why not. The ship picks you up if you have no landing site near by already, and has this whole time.

Would also add more choice to landing, "do I want my ship around after I head out or no?"

I've used the pick up feature a few times & always wished the 'docking' hologram would extend to the ground. Being able to deploy in similar circumstances would be good, but potentially might break a few of the designed in 'traps' (like POIs in rough terrain).

"Designed in traps"

Cringe. I often wonder what kind of person it takes to go over play data and think "hey, most people go here so I'm going to block it." Like the guy who programs a pine tree in the middle of a narrow, high-speed turn in a winter sports game. I like to picture them cackling, with warty noses and leathery skin.

You can do air drops now - though only as a bug and only in specific circumstances ;)

Go to a thargoid base, land and log out (it will warn you about logging out, ignore it). When you log in your ship will be in the air, but will behave as if landed, so you can deploy in the srv and do an air drop :D

I need to bug report that soon...

Please yes, that would be great :D

And let us do it at speed, even if it means a quick death. Now that I think about it, that would give us a reason for a new SRV, one that can survive a hot drop at 400m/s.

Has someone being playing Mass Effect again? Great idea though, landings for surface missions feel far too sedate considering that I'm there to hack data/explode things.

I have one word for you SRV users: RAMP. 1400 years in the future and we can't have a blasted boarding ramp?

I've chimed in on my aggravation with SRV/ship interaction before, but the short version is that it's ALL wrong. The pickiness of the "boarding" light, the arrangement of the SRV's helm menu (seriously? "Activate turret" is the first option?? Who EVER actually needs that button?) and the sheer, maddening clunkiness of performing ANY action between the two craft--it's inhumane how many button presses we need for the simplest of tasks. Have you ever tried to offload SRV cargo into your ship? It's obscene how much tinkering it takes.

Don't worry - when we get spacelegs we'll have to carry cargo into the SRV (and vice versa). It will take longer, but think of the immersions!

agreed. should be easy enough to implement

Agree 100%, hot-dropping SRVs is a much needed feature.

Yes please ! And while we are at it can we have bombs that can be aimed and dropped then you could use the same system for dropping srv.

On another note the transferring of cargo to ship is aweful ,it needs be done in one click from the first option on the srv menu and there is no need to goto a select what cargo goes to the ship as I wouldn't have picked it up if I didn't want to keep it, if I did pick it up and decided I didn't want it I'd jettison it from the srv.

Not to mention that this would get rid of the awful space-ship-on-stilts aesthetic.

Besides imagine all the fun you would have:
