maybe someone can help me upgrade my weapons !!

I would keep the large 3C beams on top for sites with Sentinels in case you want to shoot at them from the ship versus the SRV. Add two medium 2B advanced missile racks on the bottom. They offer 16 more missiles each (total 64) than the standard missile racks with no increase in mass.

One would think that a powerful single missile would take out a ground scavenger but not always in ED! Two missiles do the job and can take out multiple targets if they are close enough. Mounting fixed missiles close to the centerline of a ship provides better targeting firing two at once versus on the wings.

On the ground I go with a Scarab for accurate targeting and an engineered Dominator suit with Manticore or L-6 rocket launcher weapons. Others like fast swapping thermal/kinetic weapons for more immersion.

Smaller lower cost ships can be configured for this game play keeping your Phantom for other uses. Here is a maxed out Cobra I use for on foot high conflict zones which easily takes care of threat 3 wreckage sites. Missiles don't require WEP pips so 4 pips to SYS keeps your shields up longer.

Regards
What about Guardian weapons anything worth getting there .. are they lighter or heavier don't want to loose jump range?

Cheers CC

Guardian weapons are for Thargoid combat and don't have the damage abilities as standard weapons on human targets much less trying to hit ground scavengers with them. They are for an entirely different play style plus some very serious ship engineering to just stay alive when Thargoids are around.

There are exceptions to that.
  • trident is the only fighter that does absolute damage
  • shards make a good anti- shield, no engineering alternative to g5 engineered frags.
  • i hear good things about modified plasma charger and pvp

I'm assuming you're playing solo/private group?
I personally wouldn't want to use that build in open. You'd be toast before you even got on target to the other player or selected a system to escape to. Almost zero survivability in open if you encounter an unfriendly player. For open I'd replace a hanger, scoop, docking computer, surface scanner, FSD Booster and cargo rack with an MRP and HRPs.
In saying that, I do agree that using a smaller dedicated ship is way more preferable that using an explorer specced phantom for combat :)

Or just avoid "popular systems".

Actually I use it quite often in Open mode with other players doing on foot high conflict zones. It flies away when I leave it to go do battle. For planetary wreckage missions I can go Solo or whatever as live players rarely show up in the 'boonies'. Going to a player populated system or an engineer I can fly Solo to get there then Open low wake to leave and frustrate any player trying to interdict me.

It is more about situational awareness knowing when a player is about to attack then avoiding them. Still if a player kills me it's a whopping 500k rebuy. Oh no, what am I going to do! :)
