measurment units - fix mixed references to metric and imperial.

What title says.

Game uses both metric and imperial units, thats bad.

Example - I am buying new animal - mandrill. I go to zoopedia to check its barrier height. Zoopedia -> natural habitat.....grade 2 jump-proof, 3.3 ft. Great.

Now let me adjust my freshly built barrier. Oh, the height slider is in meters? Okay... Thanks, i guess? Now what's 3.3 ft in meters?

Oh by the way, a mandrill will get over a 3 ft fence like its nothing. Its the size of a lage dog, it will simply climb over.

Which leads me to suspect, that 3.3 ft is simply a typo and its in fact a 3.3 m barrier?

edit - the fix is to change units to imperial system. but if you want to use metric, youre out of luck.

The measurements in the Zoopedia depend on your language settings.
In my game they are in metric because I'm in a metric country.

The other setting only affects measurements in the game itself.

Hiya, just wanted to let you know that in a future update, we'll be addressing this - your metric/imperial system will update depending on the region you play in :) hopefully that sorts that for you!

Will that be automatic?

I don't have any plans to go to America any time soon, but I'm curious - if I did, would my game automatically switch to Imperial, or would it remain in Metric? Given that I don't have a clue how the Imperial system works, I could imagine that it might be a nuisance to someone who does travel a lot. Then again I imagine that's a relatively small niche.

Does that mean that players in the US are out of luck?)

My guess would be on the language setting of your game but as far as i can see English is just 1 setting.
Maybe they'll add American-English just for this :D

I don't think the system of measurement counts as a language setting, but it would be nice to know we can switch back to metric if it auto-changes to Imperial.

Well there are only a few countries in the world, who primarily use the imperial system.

1 or 2 small countries and the US. (so basically only the US)
Since it was mentioned as depending on region, my guess would be this - at least you will be able to switch between English/English and American/English.

To me, I wouldn't make much sense if you go to America and the game decides to switch it for you. Never seen that feature in a game.. Could be interesting, though :p

But it's just a guess, maybe a simple setting (when using English language) in the menu will happen. GTAV has a very easy option for that.
But depending on region doesn't give a very clear view on that.

Tbh, I don't care :D This is a nice feature for those who don't understand the metric system, I'm glad they also pay attention to those people..
We'll just wait and see...

Well.. I work for a company that does precision engineering, we use metric. I am from a country that uses metric, but I live in a country that uses imperial.... PLEASE MAKE IT / KEEP IT a setting! Basing it on region is not very accommodating at all... Also... how does the game know where am I? Is it based on Steam? I don't remember telling PZ what's my region... or I just don't remember because it was when I first launched the game. In which case... can I not change it without wiping the game out completely and loosing all the progress?
