Mechwarrior Living Legends

So this year is a good year for Mech fighters. Turn based Battletech has made it's appearence, Mechwarrior 5 is close to release!

This brings me to one topic: Why is Mechwarrior Online so much more popular then Mechwarrior Living Legends????

There is Mechwarrior online, a game where Mechs can battle it all out on not really big maps, with some different game modes and all the usual MMO microtransactions and grinding to skill your mechs up. Battles rarely last longer then 15 minutes. You have a Mech Lab wher you can customizer your mechs. But on the battlefield there are only limited possibilities to put all the tactics to use. But this game has a numerous population, and servers in US, EU and Asia.

Then there is Mechwarrior Living Legends, a totally free game, made by fans. The game hosts a big variety of pre-configured mechs, tanks and aircraft and you can also play battle-armor (infantry). It features big and diverse maps and a tactical base capturing with a ticket system. Battles last at least for 30 minutes until an hour and are packed with action, communication, teamwork. But it has only a sparse population. You sure can find games in the evening hours. There is one server with about 20 to 30 players going all night usually.

Why?!

I really love Mechwarrior Living Legends. My job gives me a lot of free time during daytime. But the servers are only full at nighttime.

Come on dear Frontier community. Give this game a look. In my opinion it has a lot going for it. It's much more intense then MWO, it's free, it has no artificial skill treas, it's all about team coordination and personal skill. Everyone has the same starting gear. It's grand!

Join the fun. Make the servers busy night and day! 🤩

Used to play MWLL religiously from about 0.2 or 0.3 until the 0.7.x came out. Honestly, I really did not like the embellishments they added to the HUD...just more clutter that got in the way of the game, IMO.

Not sure what I think of the new build, but it might be time to give it another try...not looking forward to relearning all those Crysis c_vars though!

The Epona Vid...

It's fast! I have to try if it still is this fast in the current iteration. Crazy stuff.

I like the new interface better. It's giving a bit more info and has more "in cockpit" feel for me.

My problem is the extra clutter and the thickened lines obscuring things. Outside precise numbers for the armor/internal values, I'm also not seeing much more info on the newer HUD...though the range indicator for the various fire groups appears to be missing on the new one. Edit: Never mind, I see it now.

The biggest change is being able to move the weapons independent of the torso, which I do recall playing a bit of in 0.7.x. Wasn't super useful with the control setup (KBM) I was using because I wanted to move the torso as rapidly as possible to spread out damage and it introduced a bit of latency to this.

Yeah, MM:LL is back again. How I understand it, it's another team behind MMLL now - and somehow everyone is denying that there was any legal troubles at all. Wandering Samurai just have left...for whatever reason.
