Medium Pads...so when are they

Going to fix the slow ramp. Which seems slightly better.

My bigger gripe, is when are they going to FIX THE CRANE THAT HANGS OVER THE DAMN THING?!?!?

You can be dead on, swooping in nicely, or dropping like a chopper... you hit it again and again and again!

Please FD, can I has nice landings and take-offs as a Med ship some day?

My Asp mechanic wants to know!

:)

I don't recall the last time I've hit the crane on my dropship and I tend to prefer the crash-landing belly flop approach.

I don't think I've ever once hit the crane.

Now the corner floodlights on the other hand? 110% Navigational Hazard.
...The 'pad conning tower is a pretty big offender too, guy comes out of nowhere.

Y0. You are flying a space ship. It's not a plane. You do not have to have a "glide path".

Fly in, over, then use attitude jets to descend. Watch how the AI NPCs do it; they fly better than you do.

When you leave: go UP. It's not a plane. You don't have to speed up for take-off.

Where did all you people get your pilots' licenses, the back of a box of Insty-Bruu?

There's cranes in the stations - who quaint.

I have though, flow right up to the control room to see if anyone is inside, alas I must have looked when they were on a smoko break :(

I don't get the ramp in the first place. We aren't jets, we don't have jet wash. We lift vertically and go from there. The ramp is just a time sink, and it could lower while the ship is turning around (why enter the hangar to turn the ship?). I do like take off and landing quite a bit, but I'd like it to make sense. I like the hangar idea, but you should be able to land either direction since it rotates.

Nope, I've never hit the scenery as I land on an outpost in my Asp. They sometimes appear strangely placed, but they make interesting obstacles to avoid, which makes landing more fun.

^this

The ramp should always stay up because we can take off vertically.

To be honest, with all the rotational thrusters on the ships, the landing pads should be surrounded by blast shields that always stay up. This would also prevent a landing ship from sliding on the pad and hitting the control tower or the employees on the sides.
