Well, I suppose that depends on how one defines interesting. The 2017 budget just came out. The Libs (Right Wing) are proposing some changes which go against their usual antitax, anti regulation, anti spending mantra in order to compete with the currently more popular (not by very much) Labor party. The differences seem largely cosmetic however, as much of the spending and new taxes are designed to balance out the gigantic deficit coming from their big tax cuts to multinationals so that's well in line with their staunch, ideological neoliberalism. They might get away with it though, thanks to some unexpected changes to the banking system. The Big Four (a Cartel of four banks in Australia pomprised of ANZ, Commonwealth, NAB and Westpack) are being taxed an unusually high amount over the next four years and much of that money is supposed to go to a watchdog designed to keep an eye with the intent of keeping them from passing the costs onto customers)... Yeah, fair bit going on. Sorry I don't have time to describe it all.
Oh, and this new Cyberattack with the ransomware is making big news, as is Kim Jong Un's new missile launch. The prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull is grandstanding by "telling" China to keep North Korea in line....
Uh... it all goes on and there's always more.
