Played ED today and saw more commanders today than I've ever seen before. Most happy to say hello. Talked briefly to a player from Spain. I am in Australia and just presumed the players I would meet would be from Australia and maybe Asia. Looking forward to the wings update and co-op gaming

It definitely seems that the last update did something to increase the likelihood of being in the same instance as another CMDR. A nav point I like to frequent for a few easy bounties is normally just me and the npcs but the last few trips have all had at least one real person there.

I think it really adds to the immersion in the game. Everyone I've met has been reasonable as well no dramas so far.
