Megaship and Installation Active Scenarios - Is there an App for That?

So I really like these spontaneous events. You drop into an instance with a megaship or an installation, hang out for a few seconds, and you get a voice acted invitation to join a side and do some fighting or looting.

However, there are times when you pop into these instances and nothing happens. Not sure if it is state related, or limited to specific megaship / installation types, or just a bug.

Is there an app or third party tool that keeps an active list of these cool gems?

Definitely needs some science-ing done. Could be related to the controlling faction's state/government, the system's security level, your CMDR's rep... or (most likely) it's just random, similar to how long it takes thargoids to show up at damaged megaships.

It's random. Pretty sure all of the new installations have the scenarios, the megaships depend on which one they are. Yeah, would make more sense if there was some kind of BGS push and pull to them happening. But that's a perennial problem with ED; it's like the old decathlon game, it's 10 separate mini-games called a decathlon not one cohesive game called Elite Dangerous.

all non-dockable megaships can spawn scenarios. security level of system, state of controlling faction and type of megaship increase likelihood. e.g. non-hauler, high-security, no-state = very long waiting time. hauler, low-security, investment: triggers almost every time.

i know as i currently do a survey of megaship cargo.

canonn has a list of all megaship types on their website in their codex; the newer entries include waypoints of reference megaships, the older entries are currently revisioned to include the same. their discord has a spreadsheet with all megaships in canonn controlled systems and tells you were to find them. at which point you'd still have to cross-reference state and security level.

from a more technical point you'd want to have:
  • a database of waypoints of individual megaships (afaik that needs to be manually, because there is no journal entry of a shiplog scan event. theoretically you could achieve something like it by mining a third party data dump or monitoring the eddn data stream and analysing it for locations of megaships on specific waypoints - but as not all megaships are revealed without a fss scan such a automated location database will be very incomplete)
  • cross-referencing that database with current state of controlling faction (which can change every ~24 hours) and current security level of system (which can change with states).

in practice it is much easier to pick any of the larger factions ingame, which will have a state most of the times and catalogue all megaships going through their most-of-the-time low security systems.

when i'm using megaship scenarios as a bounty source for bgs manipulation (a good way for a small ship cmdr like me) i'm going to only 2 systems in 5 of 6 waypoints (=10 of 12 weeks).
those 2 systems are low-sec, together those two have a hauler megaship every waypoint beside one, and both have a lot of traffic, so controlling faction is either in boom/investment/expansion or civil unrest.

Extra info not posted is that trigger time in instance is also random...
You can be there for 2mins or 20 mins or 7 mins for the event to start...
So even when researching the states that trigger these, there can be a false negative given...

When bounty CGs are run this has been shown as many a player can sit there for over 5 mins and not get an event trigger...

I had no idea there is a random time trigger. I could have been missing out on a bunch of these missions. Thanks for this.

a very good indicator is the manifest/cargo. if an attack scenario will happen (in random time), cargo of megaship will change after drop in.

to work with that you need to know a megaship types default cargo, which is one reason i'm doing a survey of it.

and you need a manifest scanner.
