CQC "Melee Masters" arena tournament in Galnet?

Hi all,

I saw this article in Galnet last week and have been wondering what it's all about? I gather that CMDR Falchion won a CQC tournament, but I've not read anything about this anywhere on the forum or reddit and even can't find anything with google.

Any ideas?

No, you're wrong. He didn't won in CQC but in only icarus Cup. It's difference, because CQC is fair play without any damned modifications from Engineers and in CQC only skill wins. Icarus cup would be interesting and it's played in Frontier's private group but i'm not interested about it.

Do you know that for certain AlikCZ? I thought the Icarus Cup was for teams not individuals, plus the article says "arena", so I assumed it was CQC. However if you're certain then thanks for the info. :)

Icarus Cup hasn't been held yet. The galnet article must be talking about something else. Maybe there was a mini-tourney at some event Frontier ran or was at?

FDev were at Legends of Gaming on 10th-11th September, but the galnet article is from the 9th. Maybe someone from FDev will pop in and enlighten us. Or we can ask in the Canonn thread and they can work out if it's linked to the crashed spaceship.

Yeah, no CQC tournament yet; Icarus Cup isn't yet; if I search for "Melee Masters" and "Elite Dangerous" on the web the only pages which come back are the Galnet article and copies of it.

Oh, and there's no such person as CMDR Falchion, at least on the commander search in "Friends and Private Groups".

I suspect this is some plot-related thing - a mysterious character in Drew Wagar's Oolite Saga flew a ship called the Falchion, so we know he likes the word. Oh, and the "Meta Drive" thing which was in Galnet a while back is associated with Chi Orionis, the supposed homesystem of Falchion.

Ah, that's interesting. Yes I tried many search terms and couldn't find anything. A Falchion appears to be a kind of knife...
