Memorialising dead animals

It would be really cool if, when you get the alert about an animal dying and you get the little 'RIP' dialogue, you had an option to create a permanent memorial object in the world which you could click on and would show that dialogue. Just so that you could memorialise particular animals that you were attached to for any reason. It was quite sad when my African Wild Dog founding alpha female died and the vet just came and disappeared her into the void, haha.

That's a splendid idea! As a dog owner in a country where the law orders you to "utilise" your beloved companion after he/she passes away I'd love it. By "utilising" they mean pay the vet to throw our lifelong friend in the trash at the vet's office.

with as quick and easy as animals die in this game, you will need a whole map to fit these memorials in.

i wouldn't be surprised if something like this is already planned, in one of the videos i remember them saying that there will be celebration when there is a birth and mourning when there is a death, so it wouldn't surprise me if they already plan to have plaques or something like that.
Said in this video, 4:09

could even be like zoos in real life where they have a sort of media thing announcing a new animal baby, which can attract more guests to see them.
or the death of a beloved animal.
maybe like a tab in the zoo panel that you can open a book/web page type of section to view them?
that way you can keep all past animal logs, but can also place plaques for more popular ones, or your personal faves.

If you leave a wolf carcass too long the other wolves get hungry...

My first wolf death became a tasty pile of ribs and flesh in a round feeder.

WHAT? What country is that? It's... barbaric :(
Here you can pay to have them cremated and they either send you the urn or you can pick it up at the vet's office (needless to say I did NOT go for the post option)

But I really like the OP's idea, I got upset when my first female grizzly died, I loved watching her swim, and poof... gone.

If you are fast, you can select the dead animal, see the tombstone, make a screenshot and save that on your computer as a lasting memory.

I don't know if people played Subnautica. But there was a feature for making a screenshot and putting it on a screen on the wall.
I know, there are a lot of games with a similar feature. This one pops up atm.

That would be a nice feature in this game. Making a screenshot, and have a memorialising tombstone or screen with your a (small) screenshot of your animal.

A plaque would be nice to memorialize those animals that become especially important to you or your zoo, for one reason or other. Maybe the first elephant your franchise ever managed to breed and then lived in your zoo for 50 years; of the tiger that boosted your zoo fame to the next level. Of course zoos, in real life or Planet Zoo, have a lot of dead animals, especially for shorter-lived species, and it would be ridiculous to try to memorialize them all. As a veterinarian I know a lot of people who don't even want any keepsakes for any animal they have lived with for 15 years.
I have linked another thread that I think brought up a great idea to not only memorialize a deceased animal but add some educational value https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/some-ideas-for-ornamentation.526611/. It is proposed in that thread that we should be able to place mounted skeletons in our parks for education purposes, and that we should only be able to acquire these skeletons from animal that has passed away in our park.

Zoos usually use badges/plaques and add them eigther to a board, statue, fountain somewhere in the zoo or even on the walls of the habitat itself. Because in real life, even vistors have their favorite animal and maybe didn't hear their favorite animal died. I think the plaque shouldn't tell "died of old age/sickness/hunger" or something... it just should tell the name and species, maybe with a born and dead date - like it would be usual. This I would like 😄

Planet Zoo already will track animals and we know this because of the World Records tabs for each and every animal even though it wasnt turned on for the beta, so they definitely do keep a record of the animals. Can't see it being too much trouble make that list localised for all animals kept in your zoo.

I agree it would be awesome to be able to place plaques or information screens that list every animal of that type to have lived and are living in your zoo.

Would be even cooler if they kept a record, exactly like the world records type tab but for each animal, so you could see yourself how big your biggest tiger was, or how long your longest living tortoise lived even though they might not be record breakers.
