Memories, goose pimples and lots of cash - tales of a rares trader seeing Lave after 30 years!

I recently came across a short-ish rares route - set about it all wrong, bought rares and then set off to the next station, trading from station to station and not seeing my cash grow

After a short conversation on the forum I was advised to forget the trading between stations, and just jump to the next rares station - it would be far more lucrative

So tonight i completed half of the route and that half included flying into Lave, passing all the old systems from the good old days (being a particularly fugitive dealer in furs and narcotics back then) and it was awesome - i know people have complained that theres no difference between XXX and ZZZ or YYY, but for me it didnt need to be - the post code is enough, this is freaking LAVE!!!!

I literally havent been here since 1984, just coming through the letter box and dropping landing gear made the hairs on my arms stand on end - done it thousands of times, but again THIS IS LAVE!!!!

And promptly made 500k off the rares

Sometimes i read the forum and just the wave of negative opinions make me wonder about switching the game on, and then little things like this happen and i realise im along for the ride with FD, some dont like it, some dont see it, im the crazy guy at the front of the rollercoaster waving his arms and hanging his tounge out like a dog in a car

Like yourself I played in 1984 on a C64, I have not been to Lava, diso, etc etc, yet, but I hope it has the same effect on me as did on you.

A lot of us old timers are reliving past memories with Elite, the difference today though is the graphics are amazing.

Funnily enough visited Lave for the first time last weekend, nice to go 'home' in a Cobra MkIII after almost 30 years. Earlier on today I too was picking up a few rares all within 10ly or so of Lave. Looking forward to jumping ~150ly tomorrow and getting some profit.

Cool isn't it.
I was quite excited to visit Lave myself - not even bothered to visit Earth yet! ;)

Yep, Lave was first on my list too, once I had a reason to go there other than for going there's sake. As for Earth, it'll wait, there's too much other stuff going on to be going back there and imagining I can see myself down below from up above - wait, that sounds pretty good...brb..

I'm on my way to Lave too after the last two months working up to an Alioth permit. Like the OP it has been a long time coming, hate to be a fan boy but absolutely loving this and trying hard to be a good husband and dad at the same time. Timed missions..... No I'm not going to complain, another place. Awesome

I'll drink to this post! +1 Rep for a trip down nostalgia lane. For me it was leaving the Station for the first time, plotting my route and zooming the Map out all the way gave me goose bumps. So here's to Elite Past and Present! CHEERS EVERYBODY!:D
