In a small amount of free time, I took the time to play with the coaster-builder of Planet Coaster after the latest update which makes it easier to make custom loopings. In the time i came up with 3 coasters:
Wing coaster:
The wing coaster was just a little test for the new tool in Planet Coaster which makes it easier to make custom inversions. The tool works very good and makes typical elements like an Immelman or the typical wing-coaster first drop a lot easier. Only problem is that when you made a half-loop and build straight forward, the mouse directions are inversed. So when you want to drag the track upwards, you have to drag the mouse downwards.
I'm actually very satisfied with the Zero G-roll. It turned out very smooth, better than I expected. Still only problem is the hearthline of such rolls. You can make the roll of a piece of track around a hearthline roll, but if you want to edit that piece of track afterwards with smoothing, the hearthline is gone and editing is done around a line which lies on the center of the track. Now for a wing-coaster, the hearthline doesn't matter that much, but for other coasters it is more of a problem.
Vekoma Corkscrew
After the wing-coaster with the zero-g-roll, I wanted to test if now corkscrew were easier to make on the arrow/vekoma track. And it turn out it is. Corkscrew are pretty easy to make by hand and the smoothing tool works pretty good. Still the corkscrew won't be as smooth as real life where the roll is in a constant flow. But I think it is decent enough. So after the corkscrew test, I wanted to test it in layout form, and I began with making the layout of a true coaster classic: A vekoma corkscrew (like the former Superwirbel - Holiday Park or Corkscrew - Alton towers). And I think it turned out very well:
Junior Coaster
A last quick coaster layout i made, was a Junior Coaster. I quickly made the layout of the Vekoma Junior Coasters, but then in mirrored form. Nothing special here, but it's worth to mention and show it.
That's it for now. I might make more standard coaster layouts in the future like a B&M inverted - Batman layout.
- A simple Wing Coaster layout with main inversions like a zero-G-roll and Immelman
- Vekoma corkscrew
- Junior coaster (mirrored vekoma layout)
