Just wanted to pick up an older question again. Is there a release date for the free ship, part of the selection of 5 new ships in the Mercenary Edition (not the free Eagle), yet?

Short answer: No. Longer answer: I think they'll wait until they have at least another few ships released. We only have the Adder, the Vulture/FDL and Courier/Diamondbacks since release, plus the original 14 ships. I think they'll do another 5. Hopefully they'll have a better general purpose ship to give away by then. Oh, was it Mercenary or Premium Beta which got the free ship?
Premium beta got the free ship ... the free ship with merc edition was the eagle
My Freagle has been a nice ship. Well worth it. Not expecting anything more in the way of free stuff.
Premium beta gets the 5 free ships, mercenary got the freegle.
Anyone who preordered got mercenary edition, those with alpha or premium beta got mercenary and some extra perks like the alpha/beta insurance discounts and one of the 5 ship thing.
There always seems to be some confusion about this.
To recap to get in on the 5 ship thing you need to be a alpha or premium beta backer which also gives you the mercenary edition and freegle.
Those that just preordered but were not premium beta or alpha backers do not get the 5 ship thing just the freegle and mercenary stuff.

Well sorry, for mixing up Mercenary and Premium, happens because I'm Premium Beta and thus Mercenary eligible automatically.
And I am aware of the lack of ships that would work as free ones. However, I'm hoping to get a bit of light from one of the Mods. Guys?

The Freeagle was available to anyone who preordered the game, it's not part of the "5 new ships" that were promised.

When I came on here (Mercenary because of Kickstarter) I thought the same thing, but Premium Beta was separate from Kickstarter (or was from a higher KS level? I put in a lot, but not that much!!)Ship releases have always been alongside version releases, i.e. Adder in 1.0, Vult/FDL in 1.2 and so on, so I think we'll have 5 more ships, 25 in total, by 1.5. Which I think will mean September or so, assuming that the major feature releases run in the same vein as 1.2 and 1.3. There are plenty of "old" ships for FD to choose from. Krait, Constrictor, Boa, Imperial Trader and the Panther. *drool* I would have thought at that point, almost 2 years from the Kickstarter, they'll announce the Premium Beta ships.
The new ship wasn't just for Premium Beta - it was for all beta backers (announced after "offline gate").

No. Just no. We get ONE of the ADDITIONAL five ships. We don't get five free ones. We don't get to choose.
As indicated by mattensky in his post. "When it’s released!" said David. Or "Soon (TM)" as would say Michael
This would so much better if Michael would confirm this rather than people posting this question every few weeks.
If you actually read the post you'll see I mention that in the next sentence but thanks for making it clear....and yes they mention backers get this not premium backers specifically.
