Newcomer / Intro Merc Edition, what happens when starter ship is destroyed? (and the eagle?)

Hi there, I am new to this game, I have the merc edition, it comes with an eagle, I am flying about in my starter ship and just wandering what happens when my starter ship is destroyed? does it clear save? will I lose the eagle etc?

No, The starter ship is cheap to replace, and still cheap once you start upgrading it. The Freagle is normally priced to replaced. Clear save only happens when you select that and all that does is start you again with the very basic Sidewinder and the Freagle.

Ah ok so if I did clear save at some point the merc edition is still valid keeping the eagle, cool thanks...
