Newcomer / Intro Mercenary ranks

How many kills are needed for each Mercenary rank?
Do kills at settlements count, or is it only CZ kills...? (if at settlements - do researchers/technicians/administrators count?)

Unknown. Likely not to be a fixed number. if it's like ships you get points based on your rank and the target rank. I have heard that CZs rank easier, could be because of better targets, could be because it's bugged for other areas. I certainly noticed that mine hasn't shifted much even though I've been shooting a few scavs recently. Researchers should count but I doubt they'd be worth many points.

In CZs you simply kill more people per minute, and they have a higher combat rank. You can't easily see the rank on foot, only in staff lists at terminals and when selecting them from your srv. AFAIK.

The other point to always keep in mind about achieving ranks in Elite is that each higher rank takes as many points as all the ranks below it did.
