Merit Decay and Defection?

How will my merit decay function after I switched powers?

50% merits transfered = 500 merits.

Earn 250 merits to reach rank 3.

Week 2: Gain 50% of 750 merits or is it 50% of 250 merits and ZERO from the ones carried over since they were not "earned" for this faction?

I'm interested in the answer to this too. I would guess it transfers 50% of your merits from *each cycle*. So, when the next cycle comes around you just loose 50% of each of those weeks, just like you would normally.

So, example:

[current power]
W1: 500
W2: 500
W3: 500
thisweek: 500 (+250+125+62)
total: 937

[after defection]
W1: 250
W2: 250 (+125)
W3: 250 (+125+62)
thisweek: 250 (+125+62+31)
total: 468

[next cycle]
W2: 250
W3: 250 (+125)
W4: 250 (+125+62)
thisweek: 0 (+125+62+31)
total: 218

I have zero merit decay, since I'm not pledged in Power Play.

The decay mechanics are interfering with my normal reputation status.
