Hope this clarifies everything![]()
The rate of merit decay is what keeps me from Powerplay. I'd absolutely get into it, but I have a job a family, and only so many hours a week to game. ;P
If I made Rank 5 and went on vacation for a few weeks or ended up in Asia for a month... I wouldn't want to come back with nil or near nil. Its a design decision Frontier made.. so it is what it is. Its a mechanic that ensures commitment once you click that button to join a faction (I hesitate to use the word grind). But for those who are able to do it and enjoy it, then more power to them. Unfort I can't pause life for Powerplay![]()
That happened to me. I kept meaning to start the PP grind, but I had something to do every other weekend for a few weeks in a row, so I didn't.
I finally bit the bullet, ground out 10k in one week, then went on a 2 week vacation, and came back to a couple thousand merits (2.5, or something). Dishearted, I let it fall back down to zero, but then in a stroke of [stupidity] I spent a week before christmas (idiot) getting back to rank 5, then went on vacation again.
Haven't been passed rank 2 since.
Undermining gets old. Fast tracking the hauling defeats the purpose if you're in it for profit.Yeah, its too bad with that mechanic. I've nearly jumped into it a few times... I had some time off back in December myself and nearly joined up. But then thought it through and passed due the whole merit decay thing. Oh well. I guess its one of those other things I won't be doing. I don't do CQC, I don't do Powerplay. *shrug*

I felt bad terrorizing NPC people for money, and it got old. Watching T9's and 7's explode was fun for the first couple thousand merits, but not much longer.
Military strikes and the like take to long to earn merits, IMO.
Military strikes are slow unless you have a top class ship full of guns and a wing alongside you for quick kills. But even then you're looking at a few hours of non stop killing which does tire you.
I think the delivery side should award greater merits according to the state of the delivery system receiving it. So if you venture many light years to deliver crucial supplies then you shouldn't be receiving the same paltry sum of merits as you would delivering to a next door system.
FD really seem to miss the mark with their own content sometimes.
