Merit Rewards

On ships to which merit rewards would apply, I think we can all agree the entire system needs to be overhauled. I'm not sure how FD pushed out a major update like this, that has an emphasis on this merit system, yet it is broken. But they did.

Having to go to an enemy controlled system to do undermining at 15 merits per kill is insane. It's insane because it makes no sense that if you go to an enemy faction's expansion system, and hop in a zone, you still only get 1 per kill. No. Merit rewards need to be akin to a system like this, across the board, no matter where you kill:

Mostly Harmless: 3
Novice: 4
Competent: 5
Expert: 6
Master: 7
Dangerous: 8
Deadly: 9
Elite: 10

Ships
Hauler: 1
Sidewinder: 1
Eagle: 1
Viper: 2
Cobra: 2
Diamondback Scout: 3
Diamondback Explorer: 3
ASP: 4
Vulture: 4
Lakon Type-6: 3
Lakon Type-7: 5
Orca: 6
Imperial Clipper: 7
Federal Dropship: 7
Python: 7
FDL: 7
Anaconda: 8

So say you killed a competent Viper, you'll get 7 merits, a harmless sidewinder=3 merits, an elite anaconda=18 merits, etc. Pretty simple stuff. And also, make the transportation missions (fortify, prepare) based on distance traveled or something, so those hauls are more worthwhile and give more incentive to reach systems further from HQ.

Adjust numbers accordingly, I am aware mine aren't necessarily what is needed, it's just the idea. Fix this ASAP please, it's one of the top issues I have with Power Play.

I think people have to get used to that we are playing a perpetual beta.

Heck to me it makes it more interesting in some ways as the rules of the game will always be changing underneath your sandcastle :)
 
I understand the game is constantly being improved.

However, I just don't understand how they could push out a merit reward system, which is a central part of this update, and the system not make sense?

It's utterly baffling my friend. :eek:
 
Today I got paid for every kill in a crime sweep the same as I would in a combat zone, plus got merits for each kill.
I forgot to stop in system and collect the money, however when I looked in the transactions tab, it wasn't there (maybe only at station contacts).
I thought it was their fix for creating an environment of hunt/kill of small fighters rather than take on larger ships.
