Merits not cashed in during Weekly Tick-over - lost or are they counted in your total?

Hi Everyone -

I had 71 Merits stored in my Transactions tab last night from killing ships in a (I'm pledged to Zach Hudson) Military Strike zone. I racked up 75-odd kills (75 Merits) and had 102 Merits cashed in from running some small intel and prep paperwork tons to expansion/prep systems.
I logged off 20km from the Mil Strike zone (was too tired to fly back to station etc).

Today I logged in and the 71 merits are missing from my Transactions tab.

Does anyone know if these merits got counted as if you'd cashed them in? Or do they just reset to zero (meaning I lost the 71 merits I earned last night)?

I can't see my current after-tickover total right now as they're patching, doh.

I can see why merits would be halved at tickover, but I was thinking they'd still be in my Transactions tab (just 37-38 of them, having halved etc).
If you lose all unchashed merits, that kinda sucks.:(

They are lost.

Reason being, when you're satisfied your faction's position will hold in the previous cycle, you could accumulate merits and cash them in, giving you a "head start" for the next cycle. If PP is all about the influences that occur in a cycle, then losing them makes sense.

Also, for whatever it's worth, does it *really* make sense to cash merits you accumulated for, say expansion efforts, in a system that needs different activities for control (or possibly nothing, if the expansion failed)

Sorry, but if you don't cash in your takings for merits before the deadline, they expire. It was like this at the end of the last cycle.

Galnet put out a reminder bulletin last night to cash in any unclaimed merit tasks before 0700hrs. Does that cover what you ask?

It was already stated by Michael that the reset for the powers would be at server reset time every Thursday at 0700 hrs UCT. Any merits that had not been cashed in by this time is lost.

Thanks guys, yeah, it answers my question. Shame. I'll know better next time.

Uncashed merits could still be halved at cycle tickover - this way player's wouldn't be unfairly penalised (I spent two hours last night racking up those kills and for zero cash). You could still go cash them in but you would lose half (just as you would had they actually been cashed in). There would be no prep/fortification etc progress, just your merit count.

I understand the mechanic is there to stop people from stockpiling merits until after the tickover, but if they ticked over as well, there'd be no problem.

Honestly, that's nearly as annoying as the old Eve skill queue.
