Merrits for killing interdictors from other powers.

I think we should get merits for fighting off an enemy power NPC that interdicts us. Federal Agents or what not.
Then we could be gathering a few merrits just from doing our normal things of trading or such, rather than make merit grinding a wholly separate part of the game. This would also give value to all these enemy interdictions.

Ok, but I got onionman's post for enemy interdictions in a system belonging to a power you have pledged for. It's been a while but back then I usually got nothing for killing that NPCs, even no bounty (cause those 'agents' usually were non criminals) let alone merits.

Right now, if an enemy power play NPC interdicts you in a system belonging to your power he becomes wanted. If you KWS scan him he may even have other bounties on him. So he is basically treated like any other NPC that you kill and you now get a bounty for it. No merits unfortunately.

Powerplay defence should be a good way to get merits in general:

At the moment 90% of PowerPlay is trade: take thing from capital to expansion system, take something else from control system to capital, and so on. There are just two exceptions: undermining enemy control systems and specialised CZ for expansion for certain powers.

I, like an awful lot of players, don't enjoy trade at all. I want to be flying a Vulture, FAS or FDL and I have minimal or no cargo space at all. This play style suits me and I'm not alone.

The result is that players of all the powers undermine like crazy, even when they're in turmoil, even when they're retreating and falling down the ranks, because undermining is the only consistent thing to do for combat players.

Every time I log in I get a "your power needs your help" message and I'm expected to take some commodity from my capital to some outskirts control system. I just don't bother and nobody else does.

So new idea:
Killing an enemy player in a control system: 5 merits.
Killing an enemy player in a control system in turmoil: 15 merits.
Killing an enemy player in any control or expansion system where they are wanted: 30 merits.
Killing an enemy player in your capital: 30 merits.
New NPC enemy agents in control systems (like the ones that interdict you constantly): 30 merits.
All turmoil systems should have Powerplay CZ in them where everyone earns 10 merits per kill - counting towards either undermining or fortification depending on allegiance.

This simple change would make Powerplay defence a worthwhile activity for combat players. It would also stop the crazy yo-yo behaviours of powers as more players undermine and expand than do anything else.

It would also open up Powerplay for combat players that don't want to grind trade.

I like this idea very much but wouldn't go into discussions about the details as I only have dipped my toe into powerplay and it's been a while. But I think it's worth a ticket to make sure to get some dev's attention. It must be in the interest of FD since it's my impression that not even half of the player base is actively involved in PP.

I've raised it on the suggestions forum; is there a better way?

Thank you for your support picommander! Yes I agree merrits in general should come from actions you normally would do within the game (so long as they benefit your power). Like trading within your borders to raise CC or such. As long as it's kept as a separate part of the game, I don't know how interested I can become.
