Message for Cmdr

This message is for the guy in the Eagle preying on new players in the Fed Distress Signal Area

I would like to express my gratitude in killing me multiple times in the Fed Distress signal area, because I had no chance of even denting your shield. You have my congrats on killing a new player, job well done.

Can be deleted if need be by a moderator, no harm done. Lost 4 hours worth of work and just continues to have good time ruining it for the newer players...

Edit: Can't edit the original Title as it appears on the main discussion forum. Thread can be deleted if necessary.

Naming and shaming isn't allowed on the forum, I'm afraid. So you may want to edit your post before you get your wrist slapped by a moderator. The same goes for personal attacks.

Moreover, I'm not sure that the Commander in-question actually did anything wrong, per se. Unless of course he team-killed, which is a supported game mechanic even if most would classify that as griefing.

If that's not the case - and you simply picked the opposing faction - then the question that should really be asked is why on earth would you continue to return to the same area and/or pick the opposing faction over and over again?

Could you please direct me to where it says I can't do that?

I understand it is out of general respect to not do such a thing, however I wanted to get my point across to him. I never said he did anything wrong either. I just said I hate him, word like. I will of course, out of general respect remove certain statements from my original post. I'm ticked off and I want a massive dreadnought to jump in on top of him and squish him. Unfortunately I have no means of getting payback either, as I just lost everything I had, twice. Probably my fault I went back, but doesn't change the fact he is preying on new players such as myself and having no opposition to deal with him.

I was just in there I picked a side then 4 people were instantly attacking me, I put all power to engines and jumped out, jumped back in on the other side, if your out numbered retreat, don't just stay there and be destroyed also if your chasing someone down and your being shot at break off the attack and go after the person who is shooting you, you will last longer and if you do and for the love of god if your being owned get out max power to engines and two too shields and slight dodging movements and jump out.

You chose to return there repeatedly despite being bested.

Sometimes the fault is with the player for thinking that the next time might be different.

I mean, I understand you frustration, but also it's a combat zone, so I don't know what you were expecting.

I mean at least a Sidewinder can in theory beat an Eagle, wait until players start bringing in Anacondas.

When Alpha multiplayer was released PCs attacked other PCs as soon as they could see each other on the radar. Then this attitude has changed in A3 (FFA scenario) when PCs started making short bursts in each other in order to see if other PC is interested in combat. If both were interested they started combat.
During the last days of Alpha sales lots of new players were added who started attacking other PCs on site.

The same happens now - lots of new players who will attack other PCs on site. Try going to other scenarios to avoid them, changing servers, or choose the other faction to play for so that you will be in the same faction with CMDR that has destroyed you earlier.

Don't get disheartened. You could have just as easily lost everything you had earned to a software crash, as many have, and not to a combative player.

Remember, this is Premium Beta and lots more people joined and we all went a little crazy in our own ways as we tried out the things that we love. He's one guy favouring combat who just happened to find you an easy target. Where are your complaints about those that favour trading and just keep trading all day, every day? They are doing what they like within the ruleset of the game at present.

Don't forget that at release we'll have a big, big area to play in. There will be a reduced concentration of players who play differently to you as we disperse among the stars.

Unfortunately the combat mechanic is the only one left keeping people amused in the main.

None of the features to mitigate against random PK'ing have yet been introduced so while a certain percentage of people can get away with it they will do so, and they'll continue while there are no consequences. Just wait for the howls of anguish once penalties for murder in the more lawful systems are implemented.

Once grouping/bounties/consequences are introduced then I personally will make another attempt at testing - until then the only thing being repeatedly tested are lasers, and that doesn't flick my particular switch.

I'm bored of multi-player too. At this rate, it is unlikely to add much interest to the game, at the expense of huge complexity.

if he killed you on the same team as you, or before you had even picked a faction in federal defence he is a pillock (trying to be family friendly)

if however he was on the opposite team, what is he meant to do?

I dislike attacking humans, even if they are not on my side, I never fire the 1st shot so get shot up pretty badly. It IS how the game is meant to play out there however so I just keep away.

your best bet is go to to the asteroid belt in the anarchy system. Sure you get one or 2 player killers there, but since the weekend when an aviator in an eagle was picking on people he seems to have disappeared and it is generally a nice area with a number of recognisable names from here buzzing about.

Always scan human ships, and make a note of any names who attack you unprovoked, then if you see them again, either get the jump 1st or do what I do... leave.

There is lots of money to be made over there. Scoop the cans as well. Most human pilots have no interest in them, but it is free money, and is v good practice at scooping.... indeed, if you are not ready to fight yet you could just snaffle around making money there by doing that full stop..

finally....

SC dogfighting module is now out. IF what some of the player killers say is true, and they just want a challenge against a human (I dont believe this myself given the cowardly way some of them attack and besides if that is the case they should be at federal defence) I am hoping some of them will buzz off over to star citizen now anyway, which is 1st and foremost a vs arena battle mode.

HTH.

Hey.. Seriously just because we are on the 'opposite team' doesn't mean kill and kill again. That is the mess we deal with in the actual real world. Why do we have to have a cold war here. If I'm just trading then don't just go hey I'd like your cargo and I'm way more powerful than you .. Doof Doof Doof , dead.
Not fun.

Well as a former Eve Online player I am a bit amused how people complain about such things here. You were in a warzone, he was on the enemy team, he shot you. I would have done the same thing, because I would have suspected you to shoot me first. And my experience so far tells me that whoever shoots first usually wins. There is nothing evil about it, in Battlefield you will also get shot by enemy players after all...

EDIT: @gazmoid: When you're on a trading run you probably wouldn't join a warzone, would you? Pick your fights, run from those you can't win.

How easy are the ships in the asteroid belt compared to the ships at the federal distress signal?

/ Commander Redec

individually tougher, but for the most part it is 1 vs 1 and they dont tend to fire on you 1st, so you get on their 6 and take them out (its AI so no guilt needed)

sometimes you do that and it turns out they have friends. you have a decision to make then, either run or fight, thats you call.

you get a bounty between 50 and 1500 credits for each kill.

I am no Maverick but i think it is an easy way to make money.

ps if you are worried, stick with attacking the sidewinders, they are just as likely to have good bounty as the cobras, and also, unless you want a bit of fun dont cheese off the anacondas (though you may find it fun if you see a few humans in there to gang up on one)

ohh and once you get their shilds down they may try to bolt, so take em out as fast as you can.
(and dont forget to scan 1st, some of them are clean with no bounty. if you get a bounty yourself you will become fodder for the humans)

I'm currently flying an Eagle with occasional visits to the federal distress zone. If I'm not mistaken this is a team death match scenario where players on opposing sides shoot each other. I have taken out several players that showed up red on my radar and will continue to do so of course, isn't this what the scenario is for?

Plus going after players is more of a challenge, although in some cases not. Anyway I tend to fight on the Federation side so feel free to join me. I recommend not entering into combat zones without plenty of cash available for insurance.

P.S. This game is ammmmaaazzziiingnngnggggggg....
