The galnet article mentioning them is now too far back and can't be read, the only other reference to their location is if you are already at a station with them. There needs to be some way to find them in game, but there is no reasonable method right now beyond visit every station in known space hoping for the best, or google. And if google is the answer, that's poor game design...

No, but neither is google. Seriously, I want to work to find the information, but the information simply does not exist in game anymore unless you've already stumbled across it by sheer (extremely low) chance. So take your sanctimonious 'silver spoon', and back off.
I'm happy to look for things in the game if they're actually there. This isn't.
They weren't supposed to be buyable commodities - you'll have to do some work for them. They were introduced to one station for sale after a (probably) bug blocked the natural supply.
So - you can either run along as a lone wolf and do your own stuff, or talk to other CMDRs and receive some hints as to where you can get that stuff.
If you want to do the latter, I'll put a link in the spoiler.
Oh, and you don't need to rely on stumbling across them by chance - you could also work for it and make it a systematic search/research project. Whcih is what the CMDRs who assembled that thread above did. ED as a game is not just the game - it's all that surrounds it, which includes this forum and a multitude of player generated websites and tools. You may (choose to) see this different.
