Meta Alloys removed from game?

So you used to be able to buy them from Maia Darnielle's Progress but there is no option to buy commodities there any longer. So is there anywhere else you can buy them? EDDB is not showing anywhere you can actually buy them. :unsure:

I am wondering where I might find Meta Alloys. I really don't want to buy them but would like to get started engineering. I do mostly exploring so have no problem traveling to get them but need to start somewhere.

There are many places to get Meta Alloys (MA) in the game - but these can change over time - beware of old guides as they may be out-of date! Buy them You Need: Cargo space How many MA? 1 every 10 minutes Darnielle's Progress in Maia has 1T of MA - so you can just buy them - one every 10...

The one I linked to has been tried by Factabulous recently. It's no guarantee, but he doesn't give out duff info.
A lot of Cmdrs were using Hozbase, but that's very out of date, as are a lot of other sites that Google might throw out.

It's been that way every time I've looked for the last couple of years.
I don't think FDev have said so but I suspect Darnielle's Progress was just intended as a "short-cut" to encourage engineering when it was first introduced.

It's actually much more fun harvesting MA's from a barnacle site.
Just google "Elite barnacle sites" and you'll find info' on where to find them.

Back in the days when I unlocked Farseer Maia was UA bombed. Had to farm those in the POI where Feds put drones around to protect the site. Didnt make any sense back then as to why player progression would be blocked by such emergent nonsense.

This time noobs got to enjoy the amazing FDev thargoid narrative.

Bought one there around a week ago to give to a new squadron member but a wingmate had the same experience as you 2 days ago so my money would be on the infastructure failure state.

That would generate a double-helping of salt.

Firstly, cos it'd mean FC's would (probably) be painfully slow to refuel (I bet they don't get a refuelling beam like the 'goids have).
Secondly because it'd mean you'd, basically, only be able to fly your FC around goid-infested areas, which'd mean they are little more than yet another crutch for pew-pew.
