I thought I would try n make a quick buck n do some prospecting. Did some research , found a carrier that I could sell some Meta Alloys 1,957,000 per unit. Nice. I parked myself on Hyades Sector AQ-Y d81 barnacle forest. Respawned a few times, got me to my max of 96 meta alloys. Trotted back to said Carrier. For some reason I could only sell 3? Am I missing something here or is this to do with demand? If so , this should be made a lot clearer. I was pretty annoyed to say the least n had to find another carrier. Sold them for 60 million Still made a nice profit but could have been closer to 250 million. Any advice or comments would be appreciated or was this a unfortunate bug in the game?

Probably not a bug.

As I understand it carrier owners set a price and quantity for anything they want to buy, so probably that owner only wanted a few or most of his order had already been completed when you got there.

I did think that the demand showed up on the market screen as supply does when you are buying, at least it does at stations.

Before I did my prospecting, I checked the carrier out first. It did state 3 but I thought that's all he/she has in stock lol now I know different. this does need to be made clearer though. this is the first time I have come across this.... Cheers for the response 🙂

I think most buy orders are for just a handful of meta-alloys. Hence the high sell price. Using the commodities view of the galaxy map you can find nearby carriers (up to 40 ly). That way you can do a nice trek around the bubble and make load of credits.

Sorry for late reply. My next question is related to this. I was at the barnacle forest as above farming my meta Alloys. Low and behold from above an energy surge, knocks all my power out. Oh my god , my first encounter with a Thargoid ship. Well I take it was .. like a huge starfish. I thought I was a gonner lol . Does this beam of light on one of the barnacles n then flies off. What was the point in all that? Maybe you could shed some light on this encounter?

I also would like to add. While at the barnacle site I suddenly get a message "energy surge detected" Low n behold all my power goes out on the srv. Once power comes back after 30 secs or so. Looking out of my srv all I can see is a huge starfish type ship beaming a light down onto one of the barnacles. All I can assume that this must be my first encounter with a Thargoid ship. Lol thought I was a gonner. The ship however didn't even bother about me , once finished , just flew off. What a beautiful site though. I tried scanning it. Didn't reveal anything. Once gone I checked the barnacle, nothing . What was the point in this encounter? Maybe you could shed some light on this event?

If your Srv is caught in the beam, you are in for a hell of a ride.
Was it scarey or fun? That's the main point. If not, then it's an indication that thargoids farm barnacles.

It was fun to be honest. Heading back there now. If it happens again I'll take a screen shot. Cheers for the feedback. Ps. I've just started back, getting the hang of it but only play in solo mode at moment. I used to play years ago when elite first came out. I played that for 24 hours solid on my old Atari St lol

I am at System: Hyades Sector AQ-Y d81

It's a treat when that happens.

I think I have been there in Open and another CMDR joined me and was also hunting meta alloys.

I had more or less collected all I wanted to so I skipped out, put the lights on my DBE and buzzed him at what felt like 1-2m height as I very nearly totalled the ship into the ground, but still managed a roll as I boosted away.

Yeah it is.... I also forgot to mention. Scavengers, did you see them. Shot quite a few n got Thargoid sensors etc as well as my meta alloys.
Be careful what bits of Thargoid you pick up as some are corrosive and will eat your cargo bay and possibly ship unless you have a corrosion resistant cargo rack which I think is only available from one of the engineers.

I have only met Scavengers on one of those always creepy worlds they didn't make things any more pleasant.
