Engineers [META] Phasing Sequence + Efficient/RapidFire G5 Pulses = Guaranteed 0% hull in 3 minutes.

Lol Derath, the days when you used to surprise a guy and burst his shield down before he could trigger his first SCB by jamming your Python's nose into him and giving him frags/rails/bursts/cannons/whatever the Dread Pirate had fitted that day are long gone.

Nowadays, if someone wants PvP, they diarise the fight and even then abandon it halfway through.

There is no burst now, no TTK. Just TTGG.

"Alpha? Is that like a term for the wing leader or something?"

Not noticed it as massively OP and - the real thing here - perhaps mirrored bulkheads/thermal resistant armour+HRPs finally get a use as a mod for backup in case someone does decide to bring phasing to the show. Given we are avoiding shields go down in the current meta anyway, it might actually be favourable to standard hull HP boosting across the board.

Let's face it-reactive/mirrored have been a novelty until now thanks to the overall mix of DPS output in ED. If we see thermal phasing become a thing, even if not full-on top of meta, this might actually be increasing defensive loadout diversity.

Love the post though. I appreciate the effort put in to the work, and seeing new tactics being tried out always gives me hope. Definitely an excellent discussion point.

When people dont realize that phasing ignores resists... lul

It's already the new meta which is why I stopped wasting my time here now. Every major update the meta ie altered. First it was heat or multies, now it is pulses and rails and plasmas are still underpowered by far.
Mega shields anyways or hull tanking but then missiles.
Noone dies. 2.0 was a balanced game but now everyone is immortal and PvE turned into a basic MMORPG mob farming game. You could basically bot now.
Engineers screwed all the combat in Elite.
The challenge or level of difficulty has come to an all-time low. It has never been so incredibly easy to destroy an elite Anaconda with a fully modded ship.
Also Horizons is P2W as it includes engineers and vanilla players farm slower and are weaker in general while being pumped with materials they don't need anyways. It's like a material would say: "Buy Horizons so you can use me!"
No that's it. Not going for S3. Definately not.

Then I guess we can look forward to more of your P2W accusations even though you conveniently forget that almost every other game ever made provides significant advantages to owners of expansion packs.

Sounds pretty bad lol. Probably where it was going though, they put shield/hull values up by something like 4-500% on ships with 8 utilities whereas the maximum I can think of for a weapon is probably overcharged bursts with kinetic conversion which is ~ 70-90% increased dps.

It doesn't sound like these weapons are a PvP meta as much as there can't be a PvP meta currently because so much time is given to escape an interaction :p, kinda sad really :(

This is true. I did not realise. All the fool is me!

However seeing as it isn't actually made massively obvious anywhere, I am going to note that as well as me being a fool, you are in fact also looking for chances to make yourself look big and scary :)

it's okay. It kind of worked. The picture of a child on the left sorta ruins it though. 5/10 for effort.

How long will it take for Fdev to balance engineers? Might buy another bug game to play in the meantime but dunno if it is worth. Any guesses?

I really do not know if this thread has any point.
I've seen battles with big ships be a lot shorter then 3 minutes one on one, plenty of video's out there, so I am unsure what this proves?

3 minutes? More like 5-6.
If anything it's underpowered: It takes ~20 sec to escape.

And how long did it take them to balance main game? Oh, wait a moment... They never balanced that. It wasn't that bad in 2.0, at least META wasn't that dull.

2.0 was actually awesome. Some tweaks here and there and it would be balanced. But now? Any logic sense and reason was doomed with just a single update "2.1".

Duly +1'd, as usual.

In 2.0, the ability of a really good pilot to stand head and shoulders above the rest via module sniping (v hull tank) was a huge addition to the gameplay.

Plus shielded was always better 1v1 anyway.

All that was needed were a few tweaks to encourage pip management, reduce stacking of rails and add survivability to shielded builds in winged combat.

... sigh ...

Well PvP is pretty much, dead after 2.1 RNGieers killed the game one way or another.Too much grind, unbalanced upgrades, special slot effects, matchmaking, instancing errors, combat loggers, bad crime system.I can write much more of those things and these things won't get a fix anytime soon, so PvP = Dead.
