Metal Gear Solid V

Resistance proved futile. Caved in yesterday and preordered it for the PS4.

Plan to hammer it and squeeze it in before Fallout4 and ED:Horizons.

Looks gorgeous and looks to play in a typical unique Metal Gear way. Cardboard box surfin'!?

Hopefully it still has that bonkers flavour too. Ok I say flavour, I mean incomprehensible way out there plot!

Anybody else?

Also bought. It's the first one I've bought since the very first one wayyyyy back. Quite looking forward to having a dabble later on with it. The base building and open world setting with this particular franchise should be interesting considering it's very linear story driven history. Reviews are overwhelmingly positive for it so it should be something special and have something for any gamer.

Yeah my copy arrived today. Looking forward to trying it later-unless the CQC beta lands of course!!

it was on the mat when I came in today.

An hour and a half later and the bonkers have be turned up to 11.

Don't want to say anymore. I feel I have said too much already!

Haha you on about the opening section? It was megabonkersridiculous. But wow! How to start a game!

Glad I'm not the only one that thought that, I finished the opening section last night, I have no idea what was going on there.

I didnt play any of the previous ones so just assumed I was missing something lore-wise.

No more cut scenes though please, I can't be doing with them!

Yeah so over the top and insane it could easily have been the beginning och another "Crank" movie!
But what an opening!! Just amazing and I had shivers go down my spine almost all the time!

If you dont like cutscenes I think you are playing the wrong game, MGS is all about the cutscenes! Without them, its just....meh.

That said, after playing a few hours It does seem that it has less of them than the previous games in the series, and most of the story seem to be told through the cassette tapes.
THen again, im only 7% into the game so what do I know :D

I have got this in my steam library, a fellow gamer kindly gifted it to me after getting a spare copy with a GPU

I cant wait to try, but cant get it downloaded with my yogurt pot internet due to playing ED in my spare gaming time........ 20GB download... not THAT big a download either.

Same. Haven't played a metal gear game since the dreadful non-canon US-only Metal Gear II on NES. The first was classic though. So i go from Metal Gear 1 in 1988 to Metal Gear solid V in 2015. but the nice thing i learned is...this is set a few years before the first Metal Gear and explains how things led to the storyline of that game...so in the end maybe i won't be lost.

Lots of reviews are mentioning how this game is similar to Farcry 4 and while I get the comparisons I feel MGS5 is doing it a lot better. They are similar but it's like how similar cottage cheese is to a beautifully aged mature cheddar.

I've done about 15 hours so far and it's ticking along nicely indeed could do with a bit more story in the main missions but apparently that's all to come as the first dozen missions are all about setting up the base and such

Joining in here... I got a copy "free" with a video card. Not my sort of game and I've never played any of the previous ones. I installed it, and tried to figure out the controls. Failed. Am I getting too old? Since everything in the options were gamepad related, I've ordered one but not had a chance to try it yet...

Nah you totally don't need a controller cancel it if it's not too late. I find the mouse controls perfectly fine I'm an older gamer myself.

It has already arrived. Just a £10 copy of the 360 controller and I could use it in other older controller-style games anyway. Not had time to even plug it in yet. Guess I'll try tonight :)

It's great but is it just me or Motherbase is overly large and complicated? The layout doesn't make much sense.

I also like that Kojima made a cameo in the game as a staff member. I didn't expect that with how much bad blood there is between him and Konami.
