Metallic Meteorites - do they still exist?

Did anyone find any metallic meteorites lately? The last days I've spent several hours surface prospecting on different planets - one of them definetely spawned MMs before 3.0 - but didn't find even a single MM. They have never been abundant but I usually found a few per hour.

Have they been removed with 3.0? Or did I anger the RNGods? If the latter, what would you suggest to pacify them?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, and no more or less rare than they've been as far as I can tell.

Some times I find one, some times I find three or four, sometimes I find none at all.

Still waiting for the SRV wave scanner to get a much needed volume boost. Even with the audio options turned all the way up, the only time I can hear it is:

1. When it's my ship or cargo containers.
2. Have headphones on, volume cranked.
3. Am sitting perfectly still.

Otherwise, the mix of ambient sounds and the near-non-existent volume of the wave scanner are impossible to hear.

I see... thanks, mates.

Oh great RNGod... thy name be praised. I herewidth plight that from now on I will kill other Commanders only in thy name. I will sacrificy their blood and bones only to you.
Oh great RNGod... let there be metallic meteorites again for me.

I find them in groups of three in my personal surface prospecting garden I frequent. Just got 3 of them earlier to get Ruthenium

Fascinating...
Thank you, oh great RNGod. I will sacrifice PLENTY of blood... thy greatness be praised...

Oh crap, there's another one....

Finding them as frequent as ever, I farmed around 90 Nickel in around an hour and a half. Learning to recognise the correct signal pattern and signal noise is half the battle.

I still swear by the trick that they are common inside of creators. I've gone looking for arsenic since 3 dropped and still found them readily within.

Could be just placebo though.

It's not a placebo, metallic asteroids are spawned more frequently around craters. It was covered in a dev post back around the time Horizons was released; they gave tips on scanning and where players have a greater chance to find scan targets on the surface of planets.

I land mostly in craters and I haven't been seeing many metallics. It's been tough to get any rare materials for me outside of cadmium which I can always find tons of.

The hard horizons numbers show that while they may be more frequent around craters, the difference is small and really not a more efficient way compared to the speed of collection in flat areas.

In my experience of 3.0 I suspect they may, just may, have implemented some of the new distribution rules. While it has always been very rnd, I have noticed more completely barren sessions. However, this could easily just be observation bias, and I don't recommend a new analysis until we have official word that something has changed.

Indeed they do exist. Despite the RNG gods not playing nicely with very rare ACED drops, I came across a spawn cluster of metallic meteorites while finding mats for FSD boost. :)

I'm still getting a lot of metallic meteorites these days, I wouldn't go as far as to say something's changed (in fact I specifically doubt it since FD said they wouldn't be looking at prospecting until later in beyond), but I can tell you that the system resource type matters greatly.

When I want metallic meteorites (sic: high end prospectables), I go to eddb.io and I hit bodies, and I search for; the elements I'm looking for, natch, but only on Metal rich bodies in systems with 'Pristine' reserves.

For example, for Antimony, I use Kaus Borealis B1. I would say landing on the edges of craters, I'm getting about equal distributions of MMs, Mesos, Gold Outcrops and Chondrites. In fact, for outcrops, I'm getting more gold ones than grey ones (as is the differece going to a pristine system). The other day I got two clusters of 3 MMs one after the other. something like 28 Antimony in 5 minutes.

I;m pretty confident no change to prospecting has been made in 3.0 (yet).

I have to admit I'm entirely sure what you are asking for, but I did come across a meteorite when I was prospecting around Atiyah Relay in Kongan system.

Mostly I found 'outcrop', 'bronzite chondrite' and 'mesondrite' (something like that anyways, not sure of spelling).

I found one meteorite out of about 25-30 of those other three variants.

Whether it was a "Metallic" meteorite I can't remember.

I have had a terrible flu since Friday, hence I've played more minutes over the weekend than I had played in the whole of 2018 previously (true!); my point? Yeah-yeah! It's coming...I spent three & a half hours on the planet with the combined highest percentages of my desired mats - btw, 'the most amazing looking, Mars-like planet with a close white star...amazing job on this, FD!

....& I didn't see one MM!!

Oh & I'm still very ill - dammit, looks like there's no option but to forgo work today...if only there was some way I could pass the time? Hmmm!

Was it in a system with pristine reserves? That's the important thing if you want to see anything other than grey outcrops and chondrites.

Not as common as they used to be, but they are still there... Anecdotally, I've found them all in craters.
