Metro Exodus goes gold...

How similar is overworld section of the game to the Stalker games? Is it a huge overworld or is it broken up into chunks with crossing points?

I’m enjoying it to some degree, now that I’ve reached the first section that isn’t on rails. The introduction part was too long, with too much time spent in cut scenes watching boring dialogue. I really dislike the wife character, Anna, wow is she annoying. But I do like the open areas and exploring, and the atmosphere is excellent. The game is worth playing, I think, even if it’s not perfect.

It's chunked up into several open areas which are bridged by less open more linear sections. The first open area I've been exploring for several hours with about the same amount left to explore. Your binoculars help and I use them regularly to find new exploration points whenever I am on a tall building or whatever.

Others may disagree but there are times when this can feel very like stalker.

Damn that was a slick game. I'll be replaying that a few times. I liked Anna, she loves me. :)
I keep hearing that the stalker games were pretty slick on here. So I ordered all three for $9.00

Call of Prypiat is the best one just make sure you mod it out to make it even better...There is one mod that rules them all and I can't remember the name of it now sorry, a quick Google will find it though.

I really must install the Stalker series...I got them all on a Steam sale ages ago and haven't yet played any of them.

It's of course totally up to you but if play Call of Prypiat first. The first game was fine and all but i really felt CoP took that and improved on a lot of things the first tried to do. There's no danger of missing out on anything by playing it first either if you're really enjoying it then play the others later.

Do.get.them.modded !!! Very important. The vanilla games are often a buggy, depressing, frustrating ordeal I'm comparison.

Have a look for the 'Complete' mods for the STALKER series of games. They don't change the game, just improve everything. After that try some of the wilder and more expansive mods.

My favourite of the series is still Shadow of Chernobyl, some of the underground sections are quite terrifying and will have you jump out of your skin. Call of Pripyat is a well polished game, but lacking a bit in atmosphere imho. Clear Sky is okay, and the swamps are fun, but it feels a bit of an also-ran compared to the others.

So I am creeped out by abandoned places. I read about Chernobyl before stalker and saw pictures and stuff of the area. Super creepy. Then the game came out. It made me uneasy and was hard for me to play, the tension and dread always ran high. I ended up in the basement of some abandoned factory type place and heard the most sickening grunting and sounds of something moving around. I was freaked out, when I saw movement in front of a hallway I was near I want to say I had a grenade launcher (might have been hand grenades it was so long ago) I let go with all of them. I heard the movement no more but I didn't have the gal to see what kind of hellish monster it was. I uninstalled it after that because I was just so creeped out.

Amazing game, one of the few I have ever played to give me such powerful feelings of dread. I bought it on steam years later always wanting to go back. I haven't yet. One day.
