After nearly a year in development, I'm please to announce to the Elite community the release of MFD Cougar Display!
This application is an extension to your Elite cockpit and brings live animations and extra immersion for PC users of Elite.

There's something for all play styles - exploration, mining, bounty hunting, combat - there are a load of features available so please read them on Cougar Display.

The Player Tools & API Discussion page also has information on MFD Cougar Display (but for some reason the thread can't be updated with the release status).

Fly safe, o7

Very nice OP. My MFDs have been mothballed while playing in VR (you only accidentally hit "Jettison All" instead of the landing gear while flying a T9 loaded with cargo once) but may well dig them out soonish.

And why does Cougar sell them without the displays. Sounds like they could sell better if they came with displays.
I would guess that adding displays pushes them from an impulse purchase (as my were) to a more considered one, for most people.

Someone explain this to me.

All I see is a square with buttons. Where do you get the displays to go with them?

In reading some threads on this, it sounds like folks have a difficult time finding displays that fit them. They are not a compatable size.

For once, I would like to buy something without it having to become a project.
if you're not too busy, have a look at the bottom of CougarDisplay website where I link to where you can buy all the different kinds of displays (some people may like touch screens instead of cougars). I have written extensive notes on how to configure your rig with multiple displays, so my technical guide may help with this. The website also links to where others have put together Cougars and displays.
I agree, they are not an exact match for any specific model of display, but it's really not that hard to get something put together.

I'm probably just paranoid here, I do tend to be, but I see from your website that you're selling this, well you call it "donation" but it amounts to the same thing. You've also said that it relies heavily on the Elite API. I'm not sure, but it might be against the TOS to sell something based upon the free API?

Don't flame me, I'm just checking here...

Thrustmaster make them, and they can fit over an existing display like a 2nd monitor hence some people don't need dedicated displays for games like DCS flightsims. I do that with mine or mount them on a cheap digital photo frame but of course the content is static.

I think you have done an amazing job Bionic Bytes

Does this mean in theory you could export or rebuild the entire galaxy map interface on another screen?
