Hi Everyone,
I have not played since 2018 I came back and everything seems different, I redid all the training, but the real combat seems more difficult. So far I lost 2 ships and cost me 1.5M credits to replace, I also got attacked by pirates with limpets which never happened in the past so i think I have a loot to catch up on. I have a few quick questions.

• The game is now divided into legacy and odyssey, can I downloan odyssey for free if I already have legacy horizons or is it another purchase and does it require a subscription like other new games?
• I only really played solo in the past and I am on PC, I am trying to get my son to buy on his PS4, will we be able to play together.
• There used to be systems to visit for custom upgrades on your ship, is that still a thing. And when I got killed would I have lost those or does everything get replaced with the insurance?
• This might sound really basic and stupid, but how do I scan a Nav beacon, I forget and it doesn't seem to work, does the scanner do it passively as the trigger seems to do nothing.

I have read some of the posts and will read some more, but this was a complicated game to begin with and I am no spring chicken and a bit ovewhelmed.

The legacy Horizons is the old codebase, and not updated with any new content. AFAIK you get live Horizons (same codebase as Odyssey) for free, but to be able to land on planets with (tenuous) atmosphere and to disembark your ship/SRV, you need to buy Odyssey.

No. Both need to be on same platform and same version of client.

Yes, Engineers sre still a thing and the insurance/rebuy mechanic cover the upgraded modules too, if you have enough credits for the rebuy.

I don't remember, lol. IIRC it used to happen by just targeting the beacon and pointing your ship at it for a while.

Drop into the nav beacon signal, as if it were a station. Find the actual nav beacon in your contacts panel, and select it. Point the nose of your ship at it for a few seconds until the scan completes. Go back to Supercruise to see the results.

The division is live and legacy, Odyssey is a purchase, there are no subscriptions.

As has been said you need to be on the same sort of platform, Consoles are legacy code only.
