Sorry to burst your bubble, but Raven is famous for outlandish claims of no substance. As someone has already pointed out in the link to the TGC forums, it's not the first time. He is also renowned for his ridiculously long posts on his fantasies.

Frontier Developments own the IP for Elite 4, and have done since at least 1998, if not before.

If it helps to put things in perspective, Raven also claims to run the world's first Jedi Training Dojo.

They would be stupid to do this.

If they were going to do a game of this type, they would surely make Freelancer 2. It already has a huge fan base and people have been asking for it for years.

I was shocked after coming across this thread and reading through the posts, some people eh? I wonder why some feel feel the need to to carry on like this? I mean what do they get out of it?
I think I will just stick with offical sources from now on, including this forum of course for Elite news
And Turwhitt, didnt Freelancer 2 get canned? I think I read on the SSC forum that it was in the pipline but it sort of died out. Not sure though.

Age-old answer to this age-old question is: lulz.
Still, I don't think you can reap many of those here - we have mostly intelligent and level headed users (at least here in Elite and general sections, I don't frequent the others), who are far less prone to get trolled - if it was Oblivion section of TESF, it would become quite funny (and thus somewhat entertaining) really fast.

Not high comedy, mind you, but if you are easily amused or get entertained by watching apes flinging poo...

These people are sincere in their anticipation of Elite4, not because they are childish gameplayers that just sit around, talk about a game and cry for it, but because they've learned to enjoy a deep, imaginative universe that quality space flight games offer to anyone who's intelligent and creative enough.

Couldn't agree more DraQ. It was because of this intelligence I see here that made me so shocked. Mind you, I was glad to see none of you were being fooled. Hopefully that will keep any future trolls at bay.
