Midnight Black for Mandalay...

I got a feeling we might start seeing these again on 'sale' (but still more expensive than originally priced) around Christmas time. Perhaps one for the Mandalay too. Call it a hunch...

They generally re-release the midnight black paintjobs on Black Friday (which would be next week) and often add ones for any new ships, SRVs, etc. that have been added to the game since then. I would expect one for the Python MK II, the Type 8, and the Mandalay.

They're available for the P2 and T8, but not the Mandalay.

Come on, it is Black Friday. :D

Looks like even though FDev got many things right this year, they still seem to lack a real feeling for their game and their players...

Btw, what was the price for the midnight black paintjobs before they raised prices?

A good question. I don't actually remember, despite getting one or a few prior to price hikes.

... and, to be totally honest, I forgot about Black Friday. It is not one of those things I really have in my head. (But Christmas is easy to remember because, you know, Christmas, and my birthday is in the same month.)

Not sure but around 4 years ago Stygian were going for 3,250, might have been a sale, which is less than the current sale price.

I could never understand why they would make a skin available for a time, only to remove it from the store. Why? These things are digital. Once complete they take a few MB of disk space and can be copied indefinitely. Same goes for bobbleheads. I feel like punching things!

Well, this is ridiculous. Mandalay is clearly a very popular ship and a huge W for Frontier. A lot of players got it, and... no Void Black and now no Midnight Black. Not even one minimalistic paintjob either, only busy designs. It's obvious that a lot of players like black paintjobs, and as I understand - Void and Midnight Black are the only good black paintjobs and happen ONCE a year. So for anyone who are hyped by Mandalay today - hey, see if it's there in a year, maybe. Even from a business pov it looks like a huge miss.

Yep, minimalistic got pretty much removed during the refresh. I count myself lucky I can paint my Python Mk.II in Tactical Olive, even if it is eye-wateringly expensive. Most ships no longer have that option. I really, really hope they come to their senses and reinstate everything they removed. It's just ridiculous that there's no way to uniformly paint a fleet reliably anymore.

I can only second that.

Just as an example: I was looking at the available paint jobs for my Imperial Courier, and none of them appeal to me. I don't need stripes, patterns, flames, waves, streaks of lightning, swooshes or other fancy stuff for my ships. Just a nice plain paint to get a different color on the ship. In case of the courier, I'd love to see a paint job simply replacing the factory white with another color - preferably one that is not too flashy, but one that underlines the classiness of the ship.

Wouldn't hurt if those simple paint jobs were a bit cheaper than the fancy ones, too. Then I'd probably buy even more than one.

The Courier looks great in Midnight Black. Simple and still shows off those Imperial lines.

Best thing about the simple paintjobs….you rarely have weird issues when you put a nameplate on the ship, they just contrast nicely with black or white and don’t get lost as the paintjob changes colour or has some flashy design cutting through the name of your ship.
