I've dumped a ton of money into these PJs (well over 20 over the years I reckon) because they looked exceptionally good on all ships. No regrets, until possibly now.

Even in the Alpha they had a resemblence of that matte finish (though not as deeply black anymore as in EDH), but this is now gone too in EDO. They now resemble a bog standard black paint, closer to the Tactical Graphite paintjobs (which happen to be a lot cheaper fwiw) and with a semi-gloss finish.

I hope this is going to get addressed in a patch. Take the Azure paints away from me if that's the price (in the form of completely ruining them visually) but I've paid real money for these and I wouldn't be happy if what we have now is the 'final product'.

A bunch of my purchased skins are broken. Every Midnight Black is now Gloss Black.
My Galvanized Malachite Cutter, that used to look like this:

Now looks like this:

I suppose they're both... green still  I have the Galvanized sets for a few of my ships including the Cutter, when I previewed it on my Vulture though it looked very much like in the preview image (less saturated compared to EDH, wouldn't say it's worse though). Nothing like in the shot above. Strange.

My Azure blue DBX has turned navy blue.
Oddy has managed to mess a lot of them up however I think its the least of the problems currently!
The various other issues with the lighting & shaders, which I hope are a bug and not by design, may well fix the issues with the PJs. At least that's my hope. Otherwise there'll be a fair few disgruntled customers if things stay as they are. At least the Azure paints were free...

My Azure blue ICourier has turned navy blue.
All Azure paints now look closer to the Vibrant Blue PJ than what they used to look like in Horizon - the metallic/colour shift effect is still there, but requires very specific camera angles and light conditions to show. Something's clearly missing/messed up.

Similarly, those free PJs we received for the recent CGs (the ones with the golden/white star, quite nice really) - the golden bits look semi-gloss yellow now. It's even worse in the new shipyard previews.

Aesthetically 'better' is subjective, but the fidelity of the color in relation to what it previously was, or what it was advertised to be, is not.
Malachite is a green mineral. I certainly would expect something green when I see malachite in name and description. Looks like the 1st pic is defective because it didn't actually feature the advertised colour.

Except the first (original) colour was the one chosen by the cmdr who would have probably spent real money on it, just like I have and now we've been given a different green that I for one would have passed on

He may have chosen for the looks but if it was advertised as anything green they have now fixed a defective item. Product description counts. Not looks.

I know what malachite is, and the image in the first pic is a shade of green and what the Galvanized Malachite paint is still advertised to be.

It's from the actual product page:

Galvanized Malachite is evidently not suppose to look like some of the deepest green examples of the malachite mineral, which makes sense, since the paint color is Galvanized Malachite.

To my normal human trichromatic vision and on a half-way decent display, it's a pale metallic green color, somewhere between galvanized steel and what I imagine galvanized steel with malachite pigment mixed in might be.

Don't get your hopes up on it being fixed.

I bought a pilot outfit set as it looked great back when holo me was released but the outfit was changed after an update. Never used it again because it wasn't what I paid for.

Support was of no help either.

Be careful when handing cash over to this lot.

I went into Mikidees for a BigMac and got handed a microwaved burger, then got told to get lost.
It wouldn't stand would it.

Lots of paint jobs don't look like they used to. The Cobra wireframe for example has gone from black and white to shades of grey (only 2 mind ;) )

That's not the paintjob I bought
Personally i think in this case (not all cases for sure) the paint job itself looks better, but yeah not the same as what you paid for.

The loss of emmissive radiance from those two lights out on the wings is a shame though. While it's probably more 'realistic' in low/no atmo environments (little or nothing to radiate out to) its less visually appealing.

Not just paint jobs either, if you look at the lights around the landing pad in your pics you can see it there too.

Yeah, I definitely prefer the black and white.
Do you know it's an homage to the original game? When I first played Elite in 1984 it wasn't on a dark grey background with a grey wireframe.

The lighting changes are definitely a mixed bag, some I really like and some I don't. I actually don't mind losing the radiance for the wing lights, they play havoc with lighting in screen shots.
Much prefer the building lighting too.

I had to really looks close again to notice that hue of green. Just looked like silver to me before.

I would like it if in the preview screen in-game when buying a paintjob, I could rotate the camera around to see the different angles of the ship. I did have a screenshot of the Beluga while looking at the paintjobs in-game ... all you can see is the nose of the ship, it's ridiculous.
