Midweek Madness: Elite football team!

Welcome CMDR's,

As it's Wednesday I figured why not ask another highly important and vital question... One that I think has never been asked before.

If the game of football (Not the American game, the real game of football) was to be played in space which ships would you have on you're team?

There we go, that was simple enough!

My Team would be in a 4-4-2 formation as follows:

Goal: T9
No body would be able to score against us ever!

Defence: Imp. Eagle - Viper 3 - Viper 4 - Eagle
With an Eagle on each wing (pun fully intended) the team would have some speed and interception ability. Plus as they are all a bit weak they would go down easy in the box giving us a goal kick - Dirty tactics or good planning - Who knows ;)

Midfield: Imp. Courier - Python - Anaconda - Hauler
A courier on one wing to give us the speed to make a break with a hauler on the other side for for when slow but steady progress is needed or just to hold up play. The centre midfield is where we plan to hurt you... Think of them as Roy Keane and Paul Scholes, not pretty play but effective at getting the ball back and keeping it.

Attack: Cobra 3 - FGS
FGS because it it can shoot lots (Look I've only had one cup of coffee so far OK) - Cobra 3 because it is a superstar like Lionel Messi.

Subs: Ship launched fighters
If we need to make changes the tactics are... Attack, attack, attack!

And of course the good old team bus would be a Dolphin.

But who would we be playing? Well the only way to find out is for you to post you're Elite football team ;)

Keep it clean and have fun!

Here my team :)

Would consider Orcas as centre-backs for that header dominance, and fearless tackling capability. Work best in pairs, and are capable of carrying the whole team.

(At least they used to. Back when the game was proper game and we had limpets for goalposts.)

You know, Frontier could support this.
Soccer with SRVs.

It would need a giant beach ball thingy and a field, but nothing that we could have a CG to bring into game.

Personally I would like to be sitting about a kilometer up dropping shock mines onto the field.

I can see it evolving into Speedball. Brutal Deluxe, anyone?

Is there any limit to the degree of strangeness that you can show, Bran? [wacky]

No! :D

I have a note book beside me with lots of ideas for 'alternative' threads. Many are even rated with how much stress they will cause the mods, this one is tame compared to some of them... Only time will show just how depraved a mad mans mind can get. ;)

@DNA - What a fantastic idea!

EDIT: This thread may well be proof that space madness is a real thing... 7 Months in the black and counting!

4-4-2 formation as well:

Goal: Beluga
Same reason

Defence: FAS - Python - Anaconda - FGS
Should be able to block most things.

Midfield:
Imp. Eagle - Viper 3 - Sidewinder - Eagle
Speed and manoeuvrability for interception or running forward.

Attack: Cobra 3 - FDL
Speed and firepower.

.

This sounds awesome! Needs a new rare good, that when ejected from a ship inflates into a large ball.
Perhaps two, one available in the bubble, one at colonia:

Jaques decorative drink dangles: Originally designed as decorative fancies for the more expensive cocktails, it quickly became apparent that there had been a major miscalculation of scale. The resultant inflateable cherries have been used as lifeboats, observation domes, and (of course) footballs.

Not sure what to call the one in the bubble...?

To our Australian brethren, football is no that handbag game you play on an oval pitch.

To our American brethren, football is not played in Lycra with shoulder pads and helmets

Quick, fire up the Turbo charged Clipper before all the in-coming starts [big grin]

SRV idea sounds good. 10 SRVs [5 a side], a bunch of cannisters [to act as rugby balls] and four belugas planted vertically in the dust to act as a pair of goals.

Now who is going to ref? and who is going to film?
