Silly 8 bit bytes. Don't they know I have 10 fingers? Guess our thumbless alien insectoid masters don't... ;) (0+1023 was probably too many characters/numbers to bother with sorting and storing initially anyway and of course isn't 2, 4, 8, 16, 32... bit.)

All speculation is valid, even @OP's. However this is one of the more .. ..hmm creative? speculations.
In my humble opinion, its more related to Elite lore, and probably more simple than first expected.

Loving some of the comments so far guys 😂 should have remembered to mention this was just more of a fun way of looking at it and not meant to be serious. I highly doubt frontier put a marvel reference into the game I agree it just was a coincidence that's all. Also yes I think I have been taking to much onionhead for medicinal purposes 😝👍
