I backed ED from Beta [wish i could have afforded alpha but hey]... anyway, I have a direct install of the client ect but, am noticing serious issues when attempting to update the game. May well be a Frontier server issue. Well, anyway, Steam has [must be said] a far superior server system and, i recall hearing a while back about players being able to install ED [and updates] on steam for free, given they have the original game.

I just need to know how to go about it please, any info would be appreciated CMDR's. :)

Generally on patch day things go slow, even on steam, so take that for what it is worth.
That said you should on your account have a steam key, in the elite store, can't remember the tab.

But I'd add - Avoid Steam for Elite version that you didn't buy through their store unless it's your last choice. You will have problems with season 3

Whatever download issues I have on day 1 I justify with not making frontier have to pay Valve so I can have the game in Steam

Well, Steam is now downloading ED @ 9.0mb/s whereas the ED client is downloading at 0.00mb/s.... I assume that updates ect are simultaneously uploaded to Steam's server as well as FD's own at the same time?. If not, well, seems just daft really.
