This guy probably googled "elite" and found the logo nice looking enough to use. About adding it to the game, I sincerely doubt FD would add anything that encouraged copyright infringement into ED.

Doubtful. Google was established in 1998. Mike's Towing was established in 1989. While the Internet technically existed back then, the Worldwide Web that we use wasn't around until 1990. We were relying on BBS connections back then.

This pops up from time to time. I'm still wondering if that guy knows about Elite or just randomly found the icon and used it. Anyone knows?

My guess would be that Mike doesn't play videogames, but he's got a mate with a vinyl cutter that does and look at the cool logo he designed for Mike, and he only charged him 300 bucks.

Looks to me like a stolen logo. Frontier, you should hunt this guy down, because it is blatantly obvious he is using it for his own business purposes.
