We already got carriers, we also got fraction based capital ships for the Federation and the Empire.
So it's not like we don't have the assets, because we do, it's more like how it's used in the game.
I would like to join a campaign as a foot soldier or SLF pilot, lets say we can select how many "tours" we would like to do when we sign up.
Then you are transported to a carrier or capital ship from where you are engaged into battle on the ground or in space. If you're a pilot you are a part of a squad (NPC) that will follow you as you fight and gives you orders where to attack the specific points on the capital ships, and you also have to fight other SLF from the opposite side.
It could be 2 capital ships and 2 carriers fighting in one big battle.
As a foot soldier you are dropped from the carrier down to the battle field and have to fight for the area as we do now, however some kind of redesign of the CZ would be great. I remember one of the first videos from FDEV and I always found it nice to be a part of a battle with small fighters in a larger environment.
